Detroit Connect new owner Registration and Warranty questions

I was trying to sign up for Detroit Connect so that I can recieve the automatic emails and diagnostics etc. I got as far as the website asking me to put in a Customer Account Number that it says you should speak to a Field Service Engineer or Freightliner dealership to obtain. So I called the one who just helped me (MIL light and fan recall) and a very nice guy explained the following. Part of the process when they sell to anyone (body upfitters or RV MFRs for example) is to start the warranty and Detroit registration stuff, and that later when the unit is bought it should be transfered and set up so that the warranty starts from ownership and not all the added time at the upfitter (IE Dynamax in our case). While he said he could help, it REALLY should have all been handled in the Sales process. He suggested I start with the dealer, but knowing where the horse drinks it's water from, I figured I would start here first. I did have successful warranty work done, but he is under the assumption that the MFR (Dynamax) or Selling Dealer (Dylans in my case) should have this info and may have even got an email when I had my MIL light.

So does Dynamax get set up, then transfer to dealer, then to me? This seems too convoluted, but any insight as to where the break down was would be appreciated. Will definitely follow up with the dealer but wanted to go in with all info I can to help.

Thanks

IMO

the selling dealer is the one to follow through regarding the registration for the activation of the "date in service"

If you have the date you bought it on hand (ie sales contract that you can fax to the service center) then you should be able to have Freighliner service center initiate your registration. This is what I did to gain access to Freighliner's on line service manuals.

Thanks for the reply. I agree. Murkying the water more was that mine was part of this years Hershey Show Blitzkrieg of sales and subsequent hand offs, so I was just curious when others had experienced their "Date in service" warranty discussion (at final sales table etc). Also, if the Detroit Connect registration was also part of dealer final sales tables. My dealer sold 30 coaches that week or something ridiculous, so the customer hand offs were quite action packed in the following weeks. Just wondering if we missed something or it was overlooked. Definitely will be speaking to the dealer next week as I have to pick up some parts they owe me.

dealer has to file that paperwork and we give them instructions on how to do that.

Its a WAR275 form. Looks like this...

When I purchased our unit the dealer handled everything. I didn't have to do anything but pay and sign.

Thanks Brian, that's all the ammo I will need for the conversation.

Will follow up with the dealer.

I bought from Dylans And they filed the correct paperwork. How much time passed between your purchase and your service visit? Lots of transactions take more time these days to be finalized.

About 2 months between final paperwork and service at Christmas. Also for clarity the work was done under warranty, but I don't know if it's registered to us for that yet, or just done by year and low miles. We just didn't recall it as part of the paperwork and I want to make sure I am getting the Detroit Connect messages. I am sure it's a simple follow up. No shade thrown at Dylan's at all, they've been awesome.

2 months should be plenty of time.

My 2017 Dynamax chassis bought from Dylan’s was built in May 2016 but has a 2025 VIN #.

Built as a 2017.
Sold to me as a 2017.
Registered in PA as a 2017.
Insured as a 2017.
Loan is on a 2017.

Moved to MD in September. MD clerk registered as a 2015, said they use the chassis year. I am certain she was wrong but didn’t argue too much. I have read other threads about this situation and MD.

I didn’t argue too much because my wife of over 50 years was close to being arrested there because the original clerk wouldn’t accept her ID for registration and drivers license. The last name on her birth certificate was different from that on her PA
License and registration.

They wanted her to back to north Jersey to get copy of our marriage license. She went ballistic. 😐
Eventually a manager took over and she got her new papers. Whew.

2015 has a lower value for personal property tax. Just leave it as it is and enjoy the benefit.

I don’t know if MD has a personal property tax on RVs. But good advice if so.

The tax to register it here was lower on a 2015. I think the cut off is 7 years to avoid a higher tax and that was part of the reason I didn’t protest much.

Thanks

I simply went online, freightliner something, entered my VIN, and I was registered.

This was the one that I was using:
https://hq.detroitconnect.com/

And this is more about the Detroit Connect just to ease any curiosities.
