Detuned CUMMINS.

I have been looking at the dynamax super c mh.

Why is the CUMMINS so detuned, compared to what is in the ram trucks?

I know, ram cuts a bit of power in the 45/5500, but why cut so much, in a unit the size of these things??

Maybe afraid of toasting the tranny with the extra weight capacity of the 45/5500. The weak link so to speak.

Ive read that the HP/Tq ratings for commercial vehicles is measured differently. For the Ford's the F-450+ trucks have the same engine and tune as the 3/4 and 1 tons just the way it is measured/calc'd is different

2016 F350 6.7 diesel 440hp/860ft-lb
2016 F550 6.7 diesel 300hp/660ft-lb

There's almost 200 ft lbs tq difference between the ram 3500 and the dynamax force.

Not sure I follow. When you say "Dynamax Super C's" we offer more than one. The other things is engine rated horsepower and torque but what are you actually getting at the rear wheels? Companies calculate that differently. The transmission has a huge part to play there.

Force: 28k GVWR
6.7L Cummins ISB/Allison 2500 MH Transmission
340 HP @ 2600 RPM
700 LBN/FT @ 1600 RPM

Force HD/DX3: 33k GVWR
Cummins ISL/Allison 3200 TRV Transmission
350 HP @ 2000 RPM
1000 LBN/FT @ 1400 RPM

Isata 5 (Ram 5500) 19.5k GVWR
6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel I6/Aisin HD Transmission
325 HP @ 2900 RPM
750 LB/FT @ 1600 RPM

Interesting that the 3500 is rated higher than the 5500 in HP and Torque.

Detuned CUMMINS.

The 6.7 in my 2015 3500 is rated at 865 tq.

The 2016 3500 bumps up to 900 ft lbs


Must be that Chevy transmission they put in the MH.... 😜
