Dometic Refrigerator Suddenly Stopped Working

On the way home from 10 days at the Grand Canyon, the refrigerator shut off (2018 Isata3 Dometic). Had full hookup at the campground and was fine. Running on propane during the trip home when it shut off (died at about hour 7). There are no lights at all. At home, checked the fuses outside and in the panel and all good. Any suggestions for next step?

If it was very hot when it stopped it probably blew the the thermal fuse located inside the wiring harness. If you look at the wiring schematic on the fridge thatís outside under the cover you will see that fuse. Itís hard wired in. You can get the fuses on Amazon.

Thanks! Checked the fuse with a multi meter and it is OK. Appears to be power everywhere it should be but still won't work. Maybe bad control board? Will try to contact Dometic.

Does the fridge still work on shore/genny power (AC volts) because I think DC volts is still required.

The thermal fuse looks like this. It is sometimes hard to find. Ours was way in the back in a wire sheath.

Found the fuse in a sheath but checked out OK. Fridge doesn't work on generator power either. Unfortunately not in a place where I can plug into shore power. Assume since it doesn't work on generator it would be the same.

Fridge

Check battery and turn off fridge for ten minutes at the thermostat in fridge. After ten min turn the thermostat back on. I have had this issue with my TT after being unplugged but definitely needs battery power. Mine seems to have an issue restarting with weak battery like itís trying to hard start against the back pressure fro trying to start!.

The fuses you checked are on the fridge circuit board, (1 AC and 1 DC fuse) correct?

Finally got through to Customer Support at Dometic (2 hours on hold!). After I explained that I checked the fuses he said that it sounded like I needed to bring it to a dealer. Don't know about anywhere else but here in SoCal, I might be able to get an appointment in a few months! The tech had me check the voltage going to the upper board (the panel to turn it on and off inside). Since there was no reading , he indicated that the lower board is bad (one in the outside vent). I checked the test points and a 5 volt pin and didn't get any readings so I guess he is correct. Now I have to find a new board! Amazon doesn't appear to have it and another place is out of stock. Tried a couple RV dealers/repair and no luck. Any ideas?

Dyer's RV in Phoenix has a large assortment of boards. They are an excellent dealership. https://www.dyersonline.com/featured...list_limit=all

I had the same issue in Anaheim and it was the thermal fuse pictured in post 5. Are you sure it isn't blown? If so they are available on Amazon, 10 for $8. Are give me a PM if you are in the area and I will give you a couple.

I checked the voltage across the fuse and getting the same as the battery so seems to be OK. There doesn't appear to be any voltage coming off the board so I think it is the problem. I'm thinking I will pick up some of these odd fuses just in case it is the problem in the future. Now just have to get in the queue again with Dometic to confirm the correct part number for the board!

If you are buying the board- not in warranty- I would get the aftermarket replacement from Dinosaur Electronics.
They are well respected and give excellent customer service.

Even if I was in warranty, I would buy this board. Not worth the time and effort bringing an rv to a dealer for something like this.

Quick update. Checked with Dinosaur Electronics and they don't have a replacement board. Called around to several dealers and found one that may have a board in 4 weeks. Called Dometic and they don't have any but will contact me when they are back in stock. Now I wait! Frustrating but I guess sign of the times.

Wow, that stinks.
I'm surprised that Dino elec couldn't help. Must be too new?
Thanks for the update.
Good luck. Keep us posted!
