DX3 Aquahot electric on Inverter - plus MPG!

Well, just that...didnt think the electric portion of the aquahot would run on the inverter I figured it was generator or shore power only, but i guess its wired to the inverter.

Works great, hot water all the time! Love it. Is everyone's this way?

FYI, trip across the US towing ford raptor behind....8.5 MPG! Not bad! Also, even totally bringing the fuel gauge to empty im at 609 miles. And still have about 30 gallons left in the tanks! Thats 800 mileish range. Crazy!

Yep. We can run most everything except two ACs. One is fine. Can get about 3 hours out of the battery before the generator kicks in now that we have the 3 banks vs 2 battery banks.

Ed, you even have one of your A/C's on the inverter?

Hey Ed,

You have a Dynaquest XL right? I believe it has 2 inverters so the front AC is able to run going down the road.

John has a DX3 I believe. Not 100 % the same in electrical areas.

That depends. Ed and I both have 2018 XL’s. I only have one inverter. If memory serves me right (big IF) it is a 2800 watt inverter. Not sure there were two back then, especially since Brian just shared a video of a “prototype” 2021 XL that they had installed a second inverter to test in that unit. Worth checking in the electrical bay. If Ed’s got two, then awesome for him!

The 2018 XL brochure only lists one 3000 watt inverter, but with all the running changes that get made, Ed’s unit could have been built with 2 and it got changed to one later in the model year. 🤷🏼

Ok
Have confirmed. We have one 3,000 watt inverter. Front AC runs so wondering if it was a special order. Know our unit has several factory mods that were not standard or standard offerings.

Continuing to learn.

I have a 2017 model XL and have the 3000 inverter that runs the front ac. Mud of been standard back then or at least an option. I was not the first owner.

Interesting discussion. Funny part is I’m thinking I was incorrect, the electric aqua hot does t work on the inverter. Maybe the water was hot from the night before? Not sure.

I have a 2018 DX3 37TS. The 3000W inverter only powers up the GFCI circuits , the frig and microwave. (frig, microwave, tv's and other 110 connected devices can run while going down the road)

The AquaHot, both AC units and Induction range are on gen/shore power side of the breaker panel along with power to the Inverter/converter for passthru to the Microwave and the GCFI circuits. The converter side of the Xantrex charges batteries.

Chassis alternator is direct tied to the chassis batteries and will charge the house batteries through the BIRD once chassis is fully charged.

You can look at your breaker. The left side should be shore, the right side inverted. Mine is definitely not inverted. At i think 1000w it would zap the batteries pretty quick.

It does use the coolant on the circuit under the bed to store heat which definitely results in some residual

In the 5 series we were in...the water was hot just from it being hot outside.

Yeah depending on how hot I let the bedroom get on a hot day, a lot of times I can get a cool but not ice cold shower without even turning it on.
