DX3 awning motor failure

Anyone else having an issue with the main awning motor? Our awning may have been deployed/extended 10 or 12 time since we bought our coach. Awning has been catching and not extending. I contacted carefree and they said my motor is bad. How could that be? Motor going bad in less than a few uses? Carefree said that it would cost $1,700 and I would have to install it. The way the DX3 is, the entire awning would have to be removed.

It may catching on the centering pins (my name) that centers/locates awning when fully retracted. Mine typically makes a definite klunk when it hits those stops. Kind of does the same when first starts to open. Might try to help awning get past the stops while you use the remote to open. Might check to see if there is a circuit breaker/fuse for the system. I believe once the motor hits a certain amp draw it will shut down, as electric windows do. If it can be opened see if you can adjust the stops. Silly thought, the awning is turned on?


For general maintenance I lubed the hinges which made the operation smoother and quieter.

It is on. I have tried to get it up and out with help. Have Climbed up to it ad even manually extended it beyond the stops. Just a whining sound. No motor sound.

If the whining sound isn't you, it might be the motor running but not connected to the gear box?

I had to push mine up with a broom handle to get it to start opening
