Dx3 Chassis Batteries

What batteries are used in the 2019 Dx3’s, group 31 AGM or? Mine is in the shop and Freightliner wants to replace the batteries. I intended to replace them myself since the last two times I started engine l used the boost. I drove to Freightliner for a 20,000mi service and they discovered an engine code that needs chassis power to trouble shoot so I’ll have them go ahead with the replacement. I want to know what’s supposed to be there before I authorize replacement.

I have a similar issue. Can anyone help with the battery specs for the M2? Thanks.

My 2018 DX3 (M2-106) has Group 31's.

I replaced them last year with Odyssey 31-PC2150S batteries. I have been happy so far though due to COVID the batteries have only been on a single trip of 430 miles roundtrip. LOL

Thanks. Are there certain specs to look for, like cranking amps, etc.

I got Odyssey because a person I trust recommended them. He has a trucking company and he swears by them. Or maybe he swears at them and I bought the wrong ones... (just kidding).

They have a CCA of 1100+ amps and a pulse of 2100+ amps.

A 2019 M2 should not need new batteries. IMO

How long was the rig sitting in Freightliner's yard before they worked on it?

If it had been sitting for long without being plugged in then the chassis batteries could have been pulled down.

I would suggest that a proper load test be done on each. There are 2 group 31 batteries in the bay.

1 charge to 100 %
2 let sit for 24 hours off charge.
3 load test at 1/2 full load rating.

This is only way to check an AGM for proper working capability.

just 2 cents here

I agree, but I have been getting sluggish starting if the unit sits for a few weeks, even when plugged into 20 amp power at my home. The rig is at the dealer, and they are going to pull the batteries tomorrow and take them somewhere to get them tested - apparently they don’t have that capability.
I thought the problem was going to be with the BIRD, but they say that is working properly.
They told me that new batteries would be $189 each, but that seems low, so I want to be sure that I’m getting the right batteries, if that is indeed the problem.
