DX3 dragging rear

On the longer units on M2 chassis, are you having issues dragging rear end, is this a real concern?
Have you added wheels to rear, necessary or not?

I’ve not raised my hitch and have probably dragged the bottom of it a handful of times. I’m happy to let the hitch play skid plate. Starting with 2016 they added a dove tail to the doors/compartments so never had any issues with that (well aside from a certain rock that was totally my fault ..... don’t off-road these things is my advice)

Others with steep driveways have raised their issues to further alleviate. I’m sure they’ll chime in.

rear dragging

Yes it is an issue on the older units. I bought a 2105 37BH and it dragged at the second fuel stop on way back from Fort Meyer FL where I bought it. Had my local truck guy add 2 heavy duty casters this week and problem is fixed. the caster are about 4 " below the trailer hitch. Going in my driveway last night which was the trip back from the truck guy. The casters hit the ground lifted the rear and in the driveway with no issue.

If you look around there is a thread on raising the hitch. Neat clean fix.

I like that caster idea. Could you posts pics to show us?

DX3 dragging

Sorry for the delay. Took the DX3 to Virginia this weekend. Pulled into the KOA and everyone admired this unit. The drive was much better with the updated sway bar mounts that I got from freightliner. The caster picture is attached. Let me know if this is enough.

DX3 Dragging

Hamilton s-epsd-63ft
10,000 lbs each
We made thick top plates and bolted them around the hitch. The caster are made with 4 holes for 1/2" diameter bolts.

It took my son and I about three hours to raise the hitch.

My 2018 Dynaquest will also drag if you get in the wrong spot. Wish the wheelbase was about one foot longer.

I had a set of rollers mounted to the ears of the hitch they did take a beating but did the job, I had a post or a reply with my roller pictures. Though I did raised my hitch up early this spring gaining about 3-1/2” and have not had the hitch drag and there are plenty posts about that subject.
