DX3 - Lower your seats for under $20
Guys, just lowered my drivers seat. Pretty simple to do,removes the swivel but retains the air-ride and forward-backward adjustment. All you need is some 1-1/4 (or larger size) angle and some 5/16 bolts. Maybe $20 in steel, heck you can use old bed frame angle if you wanted to and do it for free =)
At first i thought just remove the swivel and bolt it back together, unfortunatly the bolt pattern from the slider does not match the seat. Then i was thinking to CNC up an adapter plate, but this was not necessary. All you need is a few pieces of angle iron.
Removing the swivel is a bit of a PITA, but once you get it off its easy from there. I was able to get at 3 bolts, the 4th, no matter how i rotated it i couldnt get the access hole to line up, so i spun the entire assembly around and removed the center bolt circle...then it came off easily.
Here is how you do it:
Cut 2 pieces of angle for the seat, and 2 pieces to go on the slider assembly on the coach. Luckily the front-to-rear distance between the holes is very close on the seat and slider....this makes the seat angle iron and slider angle iron line up very good.
Once you do that place the seat with angles bolted to it on the slider with the angles bolted to that. Slide the seat to the side to line it up with the steering wheel, as the mount is off center. Once lined up mark, remove. take all the angles inside and drill so they can be bolted together.
Thats about it. Took me 4 hours start to finish. Seat is about 5" or so lower...perfect.
