DX3 Sani Con Hose Replacement- Pin Holes

Has anyone else had to replace their Sani Con dump hose on their DX3? I've had our DX3 for a little over a year now and maybe 10-12 "dumps" in that time. As we were leaving the campground yesterday at the end of the grey tank dump, a pin hole in the hose resulted. The hole is right near where the hose angles up from the connector/output.

I always pull out the whole hose and rest it in the grass or on the ground when dumping. I figure between the expansion and pressure, it caused the pin hole to develop.

Has anyone else had to replace their hose? I have a hose clamp and tape on the end of mine currently where the hose attaches on the output due to it coming off when we first got it. Did anyone else have to replace any other parts with a new hose? Looks like Thetford offers a 1 year warranty but that has passed unfortunately.

I found this on Amazon, I'm assuming this is the correct replacement hose?

Robot Check

Has anyone also tried using the standard 3" flex hose off the front of the Sani Con and bypass the smaller hose? I hope I don't have to replace a $70+ hose every year or less.

TIA!

Poof100,

I had a similar situation as yours. A premature failure which resulted in a pinhole/tear. In my case, the root cause of the problem was the piping coming out of the Thetford Sani Con. It came straight out such that the door would close against and sharply bend the hose on the pipe nipple causing the hose to soon tear.

An attempt at a quick fix with tape and clamp was unsuccessful at preventing it from leaking when the pump was turned on. I purchased a 3-inch hose to use the bypass. The bypass worked very well, although not as convenient as the hose that comes with the Sani Con.

I had a DX3 dealer replace the hose and change the piping from a nipple coming straight out toward me to an elbow with nipple going down. Now the door does not close on the hose and the hose is not stressed by a sharp bend as it goes out the bottom of the compartment.

The work and hose were covered by the Dynamax warranty.

Welp. I got to experience the dreaded pinhole of stinky this weekend.

Any chance I can get a new hose sent to me?

Also as far as cleanup ... Thinking a bleach water bath of the entire bay is in order. I hosed it down best I could, but it happened during the black flush. Thank goodness I was standing right there and could turn the pump off.
