Dynamax Force HD Ceramic Coating
As some of you are aware, I like cleaning and detailing the RV, not sure why, it is a hobby I guess. I have been researching for a few years about ceramic coating, got a few quotes of around $10,000 to do the RV, no thanks. I studied up on multiple products and companies. I ended up buying Adams Polish Ceramic coating kit. The kit is around $80 and now it has a UV light to make sure you have everything coated. I can tell you this is not a normal waxing job. I will list the steps below. I only did the cab part of the Motorhome, this is a test to see how it handles bugs, clean up and how long it lasts. I am hopeful that this works out, but I am always a pessimist. Total time to do the cab was 6-8 hours with the scaffolding and some good LED lights to see what I was doing.
1. If the RV is clean, the first step is to claybar everything, took my time, it got off most of the bugs from the cabover, grill, bumper etc...
2. Power Buffing. I used a cordless Milwaukee (18v) buffer, Griots Garage step 3 for light scratches (very mild compound) and a microfiber buffing pad from Griots Garage. Buffing took a fair amount of time, but took off all bug marks, minor scratchds in the black paint, it looked like it was brand new.
3. Adams polish pre-cleaner for ceramic. it removes fingerprints, residue from buffing etc... This is an easy step, just need a microfiber cloth to wipe on and wipe off (just like Karate Kid).
4. Ceramic coating. Small glass bottle of liquid, you add a few drops to a special microfiber sponge, work the sponge up and down, back and forth, no circles. Work in a 2'x2' area, it takes 15-30 seconds to get a rainbow haze, then buff off with microfiber cloth. The videos recommend not leaving it on too long or you have to use a power buffer to get it off. I followed the instructions including putting the cap on tight between applications to keep the product from hardening in the bottle. When you are done with this step you throw away the sponge and the towel, the product hardens on them.
5. The ceramic must stay completely dry to harden for 24 hours. Then you add the Ceramic booster, requires an application cloth and a removal cloth, this was easy as well, but on the black paint takes a good light to see the swirls and get it off, it is a silicone type product.
All in all I am happy with the look, for sure. I will get some full sun pictures when I pull it out of storage this week. I am hoping it works as well as it is supposed to. Time will tell.
Aaron

What kind of scaffolding? I thought I read on here that someone used two Harbor Freight or Northern Tool scaffolds and combined them to make one. I sure would like to see a picture of that.

I can say I was not bored, just interested in how it would turn out. Hoping it is a slicker surface that keeps the bugs from sticking, but time will tell.

My dad fabricated a scaffold back with our first Force, it is great for cleaning cabover, waxing, and I use it to clean out the slide toppers once in a while. Two baker scaffolds from Home Depot. Made them about 10' wide with a plate welded in the middle, planks cut to fit then cut two of the side to make it higher, our hoods are pretty high off of the ground. Great tool.
I will get a more up to date photo from the front soon.

I use one of the harbor freight myself. Was 150 + taxes with coupon. Nice sturdy unit but a pain to raise/lower with just one person. I use it when polishing my unit or truck.

We could not find a stock scaffold anywhere that was 10' wide, since our rigs are 8' wide, we needed something wider, had to go the custom route. I keep it put together and store if next to some shelves in my storage unit, since we wash the RV after each trip, just roll it out to use.
