Dynamax Force HD Shakedown Trip
Well we took her on the first trip this weekend. Everything went really well, minor issues to list below for some help. Had a dash error code come up, sitting at Freightliner now to check into that and looking at raising the rear suspension a little, cab A/C barely works, hopefully they can recharge it.
1. Both of the Coach A/C units sound like they are shredding paper, I took over the inside covers, fan looks clear. After some looking around, it looks/sounds like something in both of of the roof ducts is loose, maybe some of the metal tape they use. Any idea how I can get into the ceiling ducts to fix this? It sounds like a playing card stuck in on oscillating fan, kind of annoying but probably easy to fix with some help. so help me. lol
2. There was a strong smell or plastic or fiberglass in the cabover area. I couldnt figure out if it was coming from the a/c unit or if it was just the material in the cabover, it was hot, around 90' this weekend. Any help here? or thoughts.
Thanks everyone. Very glad we moved up to the HD, I was happy with the driving and the power over the original Force, heavier suspension seems to really help. I added the Safe-T-Plus last night, seems to help again like it did on the original Force.

Halla, I had a similar noise from our AC about a week after I taped the baffles in place. It was a very small piece of loose foil tape at the end of a piece of tape that i used & was blowing in the wind. Sounded loud like you stated and was hard to trace down as it was such a small piece. It looked like it was ok. Just a thought, I don't know how the factory secures the baffles now. I was ready to take it to dealer to replace AC. Good Luck.

Error code: What is the code, even after having instrument cluster replaced I still have a code that is present and Freightliner can't seem to figure it out. I don't really worry with it that much since Freightliner told me that it is all ok and not going to affect anything.
As for the Coach A/C units, sure it is something simple, I had a piece of tape that was making a noise in the bedroom unit when new. Took me forever to find it, advice is to keep digging you will find it.
Good Luck
See Ya Soon

Great to hear. What are you thinking for the rear suspension? Adding a leaf?

Not sure but you may be able to use a dental mirror and flashlight to see what is flapping and secure it. Good luck

1. Error code is: SA: 33 Bulkhead, SPN: 4024, FMI: 7
2. Rear suspension: I read on here a while back that the rear air bags can be adjusted higher or a block can be added to give a little more rear clearance. Having them check that out. I raised the hitch, and have enough clearance, but a little more wouldn't hurt.

a quick check of the cab air filter might be a simple fix of the cab a/c.

I've had that 33 BH code since day one. A friend of mine at Frieghtliner said it be something as small as a glove light or something similar. You can bring it in to find out but not to worry. The real issues to be concerned about are the check engine light. That's another thing. So far he's been right. But, that's the only code it shows. Let us know what ya find out.

will do. I know it isnt the cab filter, that is one of the first things I change. it gets really clogged with carpet, overspray and wood particles. $14 on Amazon and nice fresh air. Seems like it had leaked or maybe someone turned the release knob on the refrigerant. On max air it sort of feels somewhat cool, not cold. The first force froze us out. hoping to hear from them tomorrow with good news on everything.

Aaron, that is the same code I have had since we picked ours up. Have it checked out if your OCD makes you (LOL) but I think you will be fine.

It is weird, it says online that it is a "Cigar Liter" issue. There is no cigar liter. So is the truck mad that I dont have a cigar liter and it wants me to know?
I wish this was like an old car and you could just unplug the warning light that bothered you, problem solved.

You might check the ash tray. They sometimes have a light bulb there so you can see where to flick your Cuban cigars ashes in the dark. If the bulb is loose or burned out it could throw an error.

Ive had a similar bulkhead code. Asked the freight liner guy and he shrugged it off, did some digging and it seems the bulkhead module is looking for a smart switch that is missing. From the little bit of reading I did I think they can flash the bulkhead module to tell it to stop looking but that’s so far down on my list of thinks to do I’ve just gotten used to it. My code goes away once I start driving. Ahhh the joys of multiplex...

I had the issue with the A/C ducting also with the loud rat tat rat tat. like a deck of cards as you describe.
When I found what area it was coming from I simply removed a a/c vent and stuck my phone up there.
Vent one way was clear
Vent the other way had the vent cut out round piece still up in the vent. And a staple blocking it. when the a/c came on that little piece rattled to high heaven.
Heres the video...

Freightliner just called. The A/C needed charged and had a bad sending unit, thermocouple I believe he said. The gas sending unit is being replaced (it shows 1/4 left in the tank and only took 48 gallons). They also said they fixed the dash error code, we shall see.

halla - I'm curious to see if the dealer fix the fuel sending unit unit issue? I read a lot of posts about the fuel gauge being inaccurate. I have the exact same issue as you did.
