Both based on the parameters of each battery. The relay that controls that, controls it NO MATTER the power source. Gen, alternator, shore power, solar. it doesn't care where its coming from.

I believe that every motor home being built today operates this way....or should. While we all accomplish this in different manners with different devices, I have been charging house/chassis batteries from gen, shore, alternator since 2002.

Apologies hut one newbie question. When i am plugged into shore power and start my generator to test, for the period where both are present does the ATS give preference to keeping the AC loads on shore power or is it programmed to switch the load to the generator?
