Entry door

Two questions:

What's everyone doing for a night shade on the entry door. Seems strange every window including the windshield has a shade except this one. Click image for larger version

Was thinking about making a similar shade as the windshield with Velcro so it can be removed during the day.

Is it just the single small deadbolt that keeps this door secure? When it is locked I can still pull the handle and open the door a crack. Our rental fourwinds had two locks, one deadbolt and one for the handle. Or does the digital keypad lock the handle?

Thanks!

I have a cafe curtain clothespinned to the decorative header. Not the greatest solution but keeps the morning light out for my deep sleeping wife.

I bought blackout material and cut it to size. Bought two 3m command hooks in bronze and put them above the door. On amazon found two cut in grommets for the material. I keep the new shade rolled up behind the sofa, easy to put up and take down and very light weight.

Everything used to be obscure glass in the doors, so it never needed anything. At some point (I think when everything went frameless), they went to tinted. We are going to start putting a 22x48 roller shade over the door. You could probably order one through dealer parts. I hope to have it stocked so dealers can order it online and get it quickly. Shade, and two installation clips. I don't know pricing, but I asked parts to stock 10 or so at all times.

I assume the shade will be mounted above the door since it couldn't be mounted to the door due to the screen?

Also, has anyone changed out their entry door lock? The touch pad it comes with doesn't feel secure at all to me. The only lock is the deadbolt? Is that right?

The rental I used before had a deadbolt and locked the handle. I found one online that is about 1/2 the price of the factory one but looks more secure.

Is there something I am missing? Seems odd.

I would like to upgrade as well. Mine also allows you to open the handle and move the door a little bit. Probably could put a screw driver in and pop the door open real easy

The locked handle is not as safe as you think. Master keys exist like water. Deadbolt is the safest bet.

Like a household deadbolt? Had never really considered that.

No, the deadbolt that comes on the keyless entry lock.

Maybe take a picture. ON the keyless entry we have now, the latch locks and the deadbolt locks.

Ah OK gotcha. Yeah the one with mine is just the dead bolt. The latch doesn't lock.

I got the impression other posters were talking about one in which both the latch and the deadbolt lock.

Mine has the handle lock and deadbolt that can be locked from outside. Can't lock the handle from inside, just the deadbolt. I figure if I am inside and somebody wants me that bad enough, that little lock ain't gonna stop them. But what they find inside might just stop them!

I can't get mine to work. When I enter the code the deadbolt just twitches. I metered the batteries and they are each at 1.6v. Which I guess really doesn't matter if the handle won't lock because I'll have to buy one that does.

Is there a way to lock the latch that I am just missing? Seems pretty straight forward?

Hit the code and then the key button? Did you set the code properly? Default code I thinks is 3715

Entry door

I had an issue with the Bauer lock I had put on my Thor. Bauer has a great tech support team who walked me through fixing it and then replaced it when it was still acting funky. Great locks, only had the one issue.

As far as the lock mine is DOA and will need to be replaced. The company was very helpful.

It does however only have a deadbolt and the handle does not lock. I found out that the handle lock isn't very safe at all because all dealers have master keys that will open them whereas the deadbolt is keyed more like a house lock. Why they would just leave it out is still a mystery because it's still safer than not having it (2 is better than 1).

Anyway the main reason we wanted it was a little more peace of mind at night. Two locks will slow my 3yo down where hopefully myself or the dog would wake up. We ended up adding a retractable gate in front of the door and a wooden dowel notched out to hold the plastic cover over the handle closed. Problems solved and enjoying camping
