Faucet came apart (2018 Isata-3)

Just like a thread I saw a couple of days ago, I had winterized by 30 PSI air to get all water from the fresh water system. When I returned to the RV after a freeze this is what I found at the kitchen sink.

I‘ve had the Isata-3 for only 6 months. Is this covered under the warranty?

That looks like a defect in the faucet itself, like it was press fit instead of welded.

As far as I know nothing bad happened with my REV but I had multiple explosions in my unheated garage .

The much lower than normal temps for such a long time caused spray cans and spray bottles to self destruct.

It is possible that those who have faucet problems did everything correctly but the duration of the extreme cold caused the failures.

I winterized my with the air procedure in Ohio and have been fretting over it after seeing all the post with broken faucets. We're in South Carolina now and heading to St. Augenstein FL. 72 degrees here. De-winterized before leaving home and water system is fine and functioning normally. Our Isata 3 is a 2017 and has the older style faucet.
Glad to be out of the cold, it's been a long winter in Ohio.

Wish I was with you in warm, beautiful St. Augustine. It’s been unusually cold in north Georgia this year.

If that's the kitchen faucet with pull out sprayer the water is in a hose there. Looks like faulty fixture or something pulled on it. You can try warranty and see what they say but fixture can be replaced with a better quality home unit. For the record I've been using compressed air method in Michigan over 20 years, no major damage. Pink stuff in the p-traps.

It's been known to get a might chilly here in Northern Ontario and that's the exact process DH uses. Never a problem over the years in multiple rigs.

I always use rv antifreeze. $10 is very cheap insurance and it only takes an extra 10 minutes. Why spend 30 or $40,000 for a travel trailer fifth wheel or RV the for that matter and worry about 10 bucks rather freeze?

most likely a defect in the faucet.
since 1960 I've been lucky enough to live in a climate where minus 20 to minus 40 in the winter is the norm.
I've never has a tap set break like that and I have winterized my own trailers since 2011.

I'd say its a warranty issue

We'd have to test it. That faucet has a switch to go from aerated to sprayer. If it was on sprayer and the pressure built up too much (IE, the sprayer setting restricts the air flow) it could have popped the head. So far we have not see one do that if it was winterized with antifreeze.

We have seen more than one...so we'll continue to look at the situation and if we find it to be defective we'll replace and charge the back the supplier. I would hate to replace and have it happen again. I have sent pictures to the supplier to see what they say.

Right. What’s a good one? I ordered what looks like a direct replacement from Amazon ($65). Should arrive today. Probably no better but I ‘ll be more careful with winterizing in the future for sure.

FWIW..............When water freezes it expands as it turns to ice.
This expansion has GREAT Force, actually used by ancient humans to fracture stone.
I know Im not telling anyone here anything they do not already know, but, when that expansion breaks your camper or its parts, it IS NOT a defect in the manufacturing process. It is a defect in winterizing.

We would all LOVE to have our screw ups paid for by someone else. That idea is NOT reasonable however!

Follow the air blowing process with a good RV anti-freeze infusion throughout the entire system with the winterizing valves closed on the water heater.!
