FlexArmor Install

Having FlexArmor installed at AZRVRoof. I'll post our install pics as they come in. Thanks to MoeJoe and Trialrun, their input helped us make our decision.

I hope the repair goes well. Is any part of this repair covered under warranty or are you a your own?

That's interesting that they took it down to the wood. I had mine installed this past May in OKC, they removed everything but opted to leave the two original fiberglass roofs. Yep, I said two. Mine should resist a meteor strike now, 😁. We also moved the air-horns forward 22" so they are now visible from the ground. Opted to remove the satellite dish as well. I carry a mobile since it seems like I end up under tree cover 90% of the time. Also opted to cover the shower light while they were spraying. Overall very satisfied with it and feel much better when in the weather now.

We had the old school OTA dome (360?) removed. We have Dish at home and it made sense, for us, to just use dish in the coach. We do also use the hotspot with an FMCA sim (Verizon). So, with Dish and the HotSpot able to stream DishAnywhere, along with most other streaming services (I drop and add on a regular basis), we've been covered regardless of trees or lack of cell.

After sitting down and talking with AZRVRoof, we also opted to have the skylight dome replaced, and a second clear dome mounted above, so if it does get hit, we just replace the second clear dome without having to mess with the sprayed in smoked dome. Starlink mounting and cabling accommodations were also added at this point.

Removing the fiberglass was something of a personal choice. There are pros and cons, and they can weigh a little or a lot, one way or the other, depending on your particular situation. After removing the fiberglass, AZRVRoof found that Dynamax had installed aluminum radius's along the edges, which they said was a really nice touch.

Final pics. Well, almost final. A last minute add was the starlink stuff, but we got sidetracked in a discussion and it never was added to the work order, that I went over and signed. They didn't have time to go back and add after everything was done, but next time we are planning on heading East, I will call them and they'll work with us to get it done while we hang out for they day.

Looks good!

A word of caution on Starlink roof installs. All the current standard antennas perform best facing north. The only variation is the marine motorized antenna that costs 2500.

I had originally looked into buying two antennas, one for the roof and one for ground install if the roof one is blocked. Starlink Support told me outright they do not guarantee you can just swap antennas on the fly with the current hubs, which is why they don't sell the antenna separately. As such I opted for ground install via Wetbay connection only so I can make sure the antenna is set the save optimal direction.

I appreciate the input. The work wouldn't even be for an install in the very near future. I'm guessing that sometime within the next few years My dish might very well go away, and when that happens I'd need something reliable on the move, and at camp for Fubo, Hulu, or whatever. Our hotspot with fmca/Verizon SIM is too unreliable, and I'm not sure how much better that will be down the road.

There doesn't seem to be a product that works well all around, so we are kind of stuck with using two for the foreseeable future.

Where did you get the Flex Armor installed in OKC?

I'm thinking of doing the same Flex Armor roof. Who installed it in OKC, and what was the cost/foot?

Thanks!

I got my Flex Armor roof done in Denton, Texas three hail storms ago...no damage to roof since, just AC and Ref covers.

It was nice watching the hail bounce off and not worrying about it.

If there is a next RV in my life, first stop is Flex Armor.

Thanks for the reply! I’m going to have solar installed for boondocking, and I think this roof would be great to do under the panels. Once the panels are up, I don’t want to mess with it!

I’ll check them out! Thanks again!

If so, take the panels with you for FlexArmor to install.
Better outcome... they know their product ref installation and keeping roof sealed.

They put in new AC seals, remove and replace anything on the roof. I took the opportunity to have them change out my TV Antenna.

Flex Armor too

We had Flex Armor installed on our Georgetown motor home 4 years ago or so, best investment ever, just sold and it was a selling point helped us get our asking price. We will be getting Flex Armor on our 2018 toy hauler we just purchased, in the next few months, will be going back to Lifetime Roofs in KC, They did a excellent Job, covered over skylight, also added mounting bolts for solar, and new vent installed, highly recommend. when they removed old rubber roof, they replaced wood where it had been leaking, that we were unaware of.
