Flooring and other options for Dynaquest

Hello everyone, first post but wife and I are looking into/preparing for ordering a new Dynaquest XL 3400KD. We are several months out due to other financial obligations, but are the careful type and want to get all our ducks in a row first.

Somewhere on here I remember seeing Brian Clemens state that other floor options were available on the Dynaquest if someone did not desire the polished tile floor. Curious what options are avail? And what cost savings would be associated with the downgrade?

The wife really likes the all-electric option that comes standard on the XL however I like to cook outside with grill and/or griddle. Planning on just taking a 20lb bottle with us but curious if other options exist?

We have a couple Jeeps and honestly are just tired of camping and Jeeping being split from one another, unless we drive a fleet of vehicles to the destination. My rig (TJ) is over 6k lbs and wife's (JKU) is over 5k lbs. and I will not flat-tow cause there is a high likelihood of breakage so they must be on a flatbed. The M2 chassis seems to be the best cure for the problem of trailer towing heavy IMO.

Currently we have an Imagine 2800BH and a 22' Midsota gooseneck flatbed that I pull with my Ram 2500HD Cummins 6spd. Will keep the truck as it is a beast and paid for but will be trading up the camper and changing out the goose for a bumper pull.

Tons of info on this forum and very much looking forward to the experience of a Dynamax.

Thanks,
Jim

I should also add that what is driving us to the Dynaquest is the all-electric, the Aqua-Hot 450 and the Cummins. My Ram is running about same power levels as the Dynaquest and I am one to appreciate having "extra" power.

Thanks,
Jim

Flooring Options: you can use the same VCT that is used on the DX3. Cost savings? minimal. The material itself is not all that much cheaper, it really labor that you save and we pay a % of the cost in labor, so that is minimal as well. Crazy I know.

You could also do the lino that is in the Force HD. That would have a little more costs savings, but maybe $750 or so. I'd have to run the math.

We have done an all electric XL and then provided a tank for grilling. You lose the rear, driver side pass through compartment.

Thanks for the response, never know until ya ask. I'd probably rather do the DX3 vinyl composition tile as I hear that holds up pretty well with large dogs. Have seen a few threads relating to tiles and/or grout failing on the Dynaquest and just do not want to deal with that. Also, with pets (that apparently hate their hair and shed a lot) I think the polished tile would show every one of them.

Figured we would lose that driver side pass thru compartment, I'd probably just do the 20lb and call it good.

I think the most difficult part of all of this will be the waiting, and waiting, and waiting...

Thanks,
Jim

I have an all electric Dynaquest XL. I love not having propane on board with open flame for cooking and heating and not worrying about propane leaks (I know that’s rare). One fuel source (diesel) is very convenient. Others have mentioned propane may be better if you boondock a lot, but we don’t, so it’s not an issue. Having 100 gallons of diesel on board would seem to be enough to cover me if we decided to boondock and needed to run the generator to keep the batteries up, run the refrigerator, etc. But, I’m not experienced in that regard. I do know we stayed in a mall parking lot for 3 days when we evacuated during a hurricane. The refrigerator went about 6 hours at night on the inverter, AGS never kicked the generator on.

We carry a 20 lb. propane cylinder for our grill and gas fireplace. Allows flexibility of placement of both without having long propane hoses run back to the coach. Works great...for us.
