Force horns

What options have owner's found to update the freightliner factory horn to a model that fits the units size?

I bought Wolo The Persuader xtreme from Amazon. Dual electric airhorns that do not require tapping into an airline etc... Just hook to the current horn wire. I mounted them on the radiator support arm under the drivers side of the hood. Much louder than stock. Getting ready to finish my modification list from my force, hopefully by March

I ran a wire from the passenger side firewall where the current horn is, ran it over to the radiator support. you have to play with the location based on the hood, took a few tries, but found a sweet spot where it didnt hit the hood.

Dynamax used to use Hadley Air horns on our XL, but a certain member of previous management did not like them and took them off. They were added back pretty quickly after I got here. I almost wonder if we should option them on all the lines.

Maybe even the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

Most airhorns have a selinoid. Can you remove the selinoid and attach the M2 106 existing air line directly to the horn after removing the selinoid?

Yes, i hooked mine right to the airline, no solenoid. If you get a bug volume horn they recommend an air tank.

My Force came with one air horn. I switched it for a 3 horn version from Amazon.

Somewhat of a “Caution”. Two of us have had our aftermarket horns break off that engine brace. Luckily mine went down between the tire, the other one of us it went into the fan and caused some damage.

The factory horn is glued on with enough glue to last 100 years. I had to bolt the aftermarket ones on. It seems the diesel vibrates enough to snap the bracket in half.

Just FYI, check them out if you have replaced them. I am moving mine to under the cab on the passenger side over the fuel tank.

BC, curious what flavor of Hadley horn is back on the XLs? This video:

goes thru the various sounds a lot of them produce, quite a variety.

We were running rectangular Hadley's...I think the 26" but had some supply issues so have been running a rectangular Excel horn for a while. Waiting to hear if/when we will have supply.

I was able to cut thru the pile of glue holding rhe plastic horn on using a multi-tool.
Fabricated very sturdy mount and bolted it on using the oil dip stick bolts. Seems like it doesn't vibrate excessively. Very.loud trumpets I purchased from Air Horns of Texas.

They were model TH15. They are made to mount on top of cab as the air inlet is in the bottom side of the base. I fabricated a mount if you look close the air connection on the outside of the mount and allows the horns to be placed vertically. Plenty of space in that position. Also these horns are chrome plated BRASS, so have a great sound. Now I know why musical instruments are brass.

Thanks again. Very sweet install, and great pic showing the details. Interesting about the brass. The engine looks new clean. What did you mount these in if you don't mind me asking.
