Congratulations! I have 3 weeks to go til retirement. I have friends ask me if I’ll get a part time job or if I’ll do consulting work. I just look at them and ask why??
Although we don't have concrete traveling plans yet due to covid, it sure is nice knowing we have the freedom to go whenever we want.

Started working at the age of 14 in my dads gas station. Worked steadily until I was 62 and retired. After 7 years I haven’t had the urge to go back. Retirement is wonderful. I always enjoyed my work but I don’t miss it. Your going to love it.

Congratulations! Breathe deeply every minute of every day! My wife and I retired almost 2 years ago at 62 yrs old and we're loving it! We volunteer regularly but really appreciate the freedom after long careers. The motorhome offers us many adventures! Enjoy!!!

I retired after 50 years of employment. Took me 3 days to get used to it.

Yeah, you'll find people that want your help because "what are friends for". Just ignore them unless they want to help you back.
I hope you have plenty of hobbies to keep you busy. A 94 year old man once told me his "secret" was to "never sit down".

Congrats! Very envious.
We are full timers (two years now) but I'm still working so we travel when we can. Our travel should increase this year. DW is retired now and I plan to retire in four years (best case) or seven years (worst case)...or immediately if we win the $600M lottery on Tuesday. Either way, can't wait. While I love my career, I love my free time much more.
Enjoy your next chapter in life. You deserve it.
Cheers,

As of the time of this post, I have 1 year, 9 months, 2 weeks, 4 days, and 15 hours until I am retired. At that time I will have 37 years with my "employer". I am looking forward to following your footsteps and enjoying some time to do all the things that I have been putting off. Surely by then, all this COVID crap will be long gone...…….at least I hope!

Congrat's on your retirement! I retired about two years ago and when we are not traveling in our fiver, I am golfing, working in the yard or typically spending about 5 - 7 hours a day in my woodworking shop, doing things I enjoy doing So far, I have not missed working one little tiny bit.

Congratulations!! Been there myself for 4 years as of 1/3/21. Enjoying the heck out of it. I do remember telling people, when they would ask how my retirement was, that the hardest part was the lack of routine. After several months I realized that I no longer gave people that answer; New Self Controlled Routine!!

I tried not to give myself a countdown. I felt it would go too slowly I found that in the last six months, I was getting a little frustrated that my successor was not quite having enough time for me to fully get him up to speed, but it sure felt good to walk out of that door for the last time as president of the company I am still on the board but am not required to do much other than an occasional discussion of issues, or offer advice.
