Freightliner Cab Sun Shields?
What options are the Force owners using as sun shade options?
We were using the SunTex Sunshade exterior setup, but those little magnets scratched the finish on both doors, so on the 2021 we are looking for a better solution..
Also, does the 2021 still utilize the Velcro tabs for the little interior curtain?

1. We have never used the exterior magnet ones due to that fact. One of our other divisions used the magnet ones and they lots of issues.
2. We also don't use the exterior ones in case it rains and needing to dry them out.
The Force will come with a logo'd reflective interior shade. Front window is held in place by the visors. The sides are suction cups.
As much as people complain about how "cheap" they are. I have yet to find a solution that is any better.
A curtain (while I admit is easier to set up) does not protect the dash, nor does it reduce the heat gain like the sun shades.
I don't use the Sun Shields because they are inexpensive...they are just flat out functional. I wish they made them with Sunbrella fabric on the inside, reflective on the out, but they do not.
I also tried black on the inside...but they only come that way with gold on the outside and I also felt like it made the interior too dark.

Didn't know we were working on one. I do know some people have made their own.
The only one we were working on was for cold weather where you completely isolate the cab. I think we just proto'd that one. Not sure if it will be retro-fittable.

We had a family member with a sewing machine make a cab isolation curtain for our Force, leather match on living area side, white towards the cab, added a thermal layer in between. Works great. Cold or heat.

When we wintered in Arizona in 2017 found a guy with a small business which I think was based in Tucson that made side window and windshield screens for semi tractors. We bought a set for the Volvo and he sent them direct to the rv park. They cost $80.00 but have worked great and were cut to fit both the windshield and side windows. Unfortunately can't remember nor have the paperwork any more.

x2 on the mirrored "cheapo" sun shades. Since our TV is in the cab a curtain is not really even an option. They've stood the test of time and considerably insulate those cab windows which are one of the biggest battles in extreme temps.

I have these. There not cheap but they work very well & are fast to Install.
I did add velcro strips from the box store to help hold them.
They are thick so there is insulating value.

That is my dilemma. Are there nicer things we can buy? Yes, but when you look at the cost, it doesn't seem like the improvement matches the price increase.
If I am going to pay 10 times for for something, I expect it to be 10 times better. And I haven't found that item yet.

I'm not only one that likes to smash them between the slide and wall when I put it out??? They just fit so damn perfect behind the drivers seat for transport.

We store them behind the theater seats.
Problem was one of our Terriers found one when I left it out. Saw his reflection and was damn determined to get that dog out of there!

Since I started the price war  , I thought I would look these Magna Shades up. They look great but provide little insulation value & are much harder to install let alone there is no theft protection! $200.00 more if you want a design included!
Chose wisely!!

Bought a roll of Double Reflective Insulation from Home Depot . Cut pieces to fit the windshield and and side windows. Windshield is held in place by the visors and the side windows have four small pieces of velcro attached to the rubber seal on door with matching piece on the insulation. Works great to keep the heat out and the light out at nite. Easy storage, side windows roll up in the windshield piece and store in the overhead bunk

Thanks for that link to heatshield Brian. I just bought them for the doors of my Sprinter.
I use a thick covercraft one on the windshield. Still to this date I have Never used the ones that stick on the outside that came with the RV.
Maybe the outside ones would be ince on a longer stay in a public campground we like to use but than I got to deal with getting the salt spray off them when its time to go home.  .
Having inside covers is great for stopping along at truck stops rest areas, you never even need to get out of vehicle to put them up or take them down.

Yet another good reason I don't always think about, but it did come in handy when getting to a campsite and it was 20 degrees outside
