I'm surprised your still alive and able to write this, the worst freeway in the USA, or expressway as they call them in Chicago.

In reading these posts , so far only AAA seems to offer what I need.

We are snowbirds and pull a 13ft enclosed trailer with our Isata 24.

Should the RV need a tow , we do nor wish to leave the trailer on the side of the road.

Anyone experienced this need? How did it work out?

I had Allstate RV assistant for years, used them several times with no problem.
Purchased GS just to try it. So far I’ve used it once, no problem but they did tell me I had a dollar limit on the service. I think they said $200, which may not be enough to tow a large motorhome to a repair facility.

In a MH it "should" be easy to leave the trailer attached as they won't put the MH on a flatbed, they will pull the driveshaft and tow it from the front. No idea what they would actually do.

We have had them for many years as well and never needed to GS roadside. If you read my tire woes returning from TN a few months ago, GS is who got me a truck and tire when I lost the tire and no longer had a viable spare due to the bad rim. They called back several times and when the truck showed up they called to make sure the truck was actually there. Cost me the $$ for the new tire and rim I needed otherwise everything was covered. The truck came from 90 miles away on a Saturday night as 9pm.

Hi. Here's another horror story. About 18 mos. ago I was t-boned in my car waiting for a red light to turn. No injuries but the car was not driveable. First call to 911 and the CA Highway Patrol told me they were very busy and could not get to me for 5-6 hours unless DUI or injury. I explained that I was in the middle of the road and they said to contact my insurance and have them work it out. So, I called Good Sam to get a tow. They said they could not tow the car until the police arrived. I explained the Highway Patrol's position and they said to try to get the car off the road and wait until the Highway Patrol showed up. I called my insurance company (USAA) and they took care of the towing by billing it to the other driver. I have never heard of having to wait for the police in the case of a "minor accident". Even the billboards say in the event of a minor crash move to the shoulder and work it out with insurance company. Seems like Good Sam's policy is in conflict with the CA Highway Patrol.
Maybe time to re-look at AAA? Will they cover a motor home?

Good Sam road sized assistance sucks. I lost a wheela d tire on my fifth wheel in Arizona Called road side assistance which I have had for years and not used but paid for. I was put on hold, sent to many different people with no help. I finally limped into meteor Crater camp ground and had a road side maintenance guy come out from Flagstaff and for $130.00 fixed the hub, put the spare on and checked the other tires and rim. So much for good Sam road side assistance !

We just dropped Good Sam for FMCA. They now allow 5th wheel RV's as of about the first of the year. We knew about it last summer but let Good Sam run out first.

Hi Again,
I just got off the phone with Good Sam and they agreed to upgrade from Standard to Platinum for free (I had already paid for renewal of my Standard plan). They are having a sale for new customers right now that offers the Platinum for the usual price of the Standard plan. That may have had something to do with it. So, I'll stay with them for another year and shop around next year. It looks like AAA is $119 a year for their Premier plan but another $74 to cover my wife. Good Sam usual price for Platinum is $160 a year.
Thanks,
Bob S

Just recently GS put my truck on a flat bed and towed it about 10 miles to a Ford dealer. And, GS sent a Ford dually to tow the fifth wheel 15 miles to a campground. I paid nothing for this.

My truck shredded a serpentine belt and GS sent out a tow for the truck, but said they wouldn't tow the fifth-wheel the half-mile to the campground! AAA would have taken my truck just fine, so why did I buy the GS Roadside Ins???

We had Xtra-Ride insurance provided by the dealer when we bouthet the 5er in 2011. 7 years of coverage. The first time we called for a burned up bearing, (after about an hour) they sent out a roadside tech who pulled the wheel off and told us to drive slowly to the next exit and get off.
The second time we needed them, they stalled and did little but say they were trying to contact a tech. The third time I don't recall they did anything at all... I pulled the wheel, put a spare drum and bearing set on, and drove to a truck stop where I contacted a mobile RV tech using Google Maps.

Now I have GS Standard Roadside assistance and could probably get the same help thru my AAA.

I had the extra-ride road side assistance I only had to use 1 time and was completely worthless. Had a blow out and called them took over 2hrs for them to get to me (and I was in a highly populated area of SF CA) then the Tech only brought a 2ton Jack for a 10000lb trailer? Then he only had a air impact wrench with a 20lb air cylinder to remove the lugs. I ended up helping him by using my One ton truck jack and digging out my torque wrench to get the lugs off. Then he tried to put the shredded tire into the back of the truck from the side and ended up scratching the bed rails and under side of the fiver overhang (which I didn't notice until later) so no I never used them again and bought a AAA card. So far have not used them but we will see....
