HDMI Matrix Spotlight
I had done a general AV video that covered over the air, cable, satellite and the HDMI matrix. We seemed to still get some questions about that HDMi matrix, so I figured I would do a little more "in depth" look at it to clear up any confusion.
As well as show the Roku stuck plugged into the back, turning every TV into a SMART TV.

Thanks, Brian. Just about to set up our own Roku. Now we know how. And it is in our own rig!

Yea, I've given up on the built-in AV thing, I Use a PC with a 3 screen splitter as my A/V multiplexer. And best of all I already know how to work it. - 32" in BR
- 50" in LR
- 27" PC monitor @ desk
The hardest thing to do was decipher the AV wiring as the speakers and AV/Amp are already in place.
I don't want to learn another piece of technology,

Thanks Brian!
For all of us that have older models...
Is the HDMI Matrix installed on a 2017 I5 36 DS ??
If not can it be retrofitted ?

I wanna say it was a late 2019 MY add as we waited for supply.
Can it be added? Well, anything is possible. Just depends at what phase your coach was built. Back then, I think we ran the coax and HDMI to the bedroom cabinet. So the bedroom TV is easy.
Then i thought there was one that ran from there to the living room TV, not sure about the outside. In any event, there is the possibility of running another HDMI cable...or even wireless HDMI.

Great video Brian. Thanks for the info. We have Netflix, Disney+ and HBOMax, so I'm going to invest in the Roku.

Good timing for the video. We are going out this weekend on our learning trip. Plan on trying Everything out and getting familiar with our Isata. Glad you posted it as I was looking at how it all worked.

I might actually prefer the Amazon Firestick....only because my house runs on Alexa. So when watching TV, I can also tell the remote "Alexa, add beer to the shopping list" and that adds it to the list that is on my wife's phone.
And then she'll do stuff like "Alexa, add don't forget to buy your wife flowers to the shopping list" and than that shows up on my phone as well....and the Amazon Show in the kitchen.
I'll be doing a video on that one in the fall.
I have a Roku, Firestick and an Apple TV. They all have their pros and cons. Firestick is the easiest in my book. Followed by Roku, then apple TV.

We've been pretty happy with fire stick as well. We brought our FireTV box from home actually and its worked great. Set my wifiranger router up with the same SSID and everything works like it did at home. Havent used Roku since like 2008. It was pretty clunky then. Assume its smoothed out by now.

Roku is pretty slick and has gone voice activation. My son uses that...and really I'm not sure why (as an Alexa house) we haven't gone Firestick throughout. We just always replace his dated rook with a new one...and now it has voice command as well.
Or maybe we've learned to keep Alexa away from the kids....as my oldest son thought it would be funny to add strange things to the Alexa Shopping list all the time. So my wife is not in aisle 6 asking where she can find the "black tar heroine"

Added a Firestick to the Matrix and Alexa Flex plug in to the RV and linked them both to the Winegard Connect 2.0. The Flex is just a plug in so no mount needed or cables. Can control the Firestick and also interact with my Alexa devices at home.
Works great when we have decent bandwidth. I also have a AT&T hotspot when the RV Park Wi-Fi is less than stellar. The Winegard connects to the hotspot.
Where we are staying now has 50 Mbs and I have been streaming the PGA Championship the last 4 days on ESPN+.

Our last coach used older technology when we purchased it. We retro fit hdmi cabling and a matrix system in it. Not difficult, just takes planning and running many hdmi cables, one to each TV. All of the components (sat receivers, Blu-ray, AV surround system were located in one cabinet, so that made it easier. We put the matrix 4x4 in that same cabinet and ran the hdmi cables from each tv to that box. For the TV in a slide, just made a loop in the cable so that the hdmi would not be pulled out when the slide was extended.

I prefer Roku for its simple user interface - very intuitive and clean. The Fire stick works fine but I dislike all the Amazon-universe stuff you are bombarded with. Can't comment on Apple as we don't have Apple products. To each his own!

So, BC, this is my current setup in the 3801 TS. I get that the 3 HDMI cables coming out of the splitter go to the 3 TV’s. There is only one input, which originally was used for the Dish box. I now have a small splitter ahead of the stock one so I could add my Apple TV. The DVD player apparently does not go through either splitter. It must go into another one somewhere. If I wanted to install a 4 in 4 out Matrix box, would I do that and not have the DVD go through the matrix? Everything else would go through the new matrix.
Hope that makes sense.
