HVAC noise

Rear HVAC unit on 2019 XL runs so loud that you can’t hear the TV and it wakes you up in the night when it kicks on. Is this a common issue and does anyone have a solution?

Thanks.

I would run the front one at night and close the bedroom door.

I reduced the noise on both my units significantly by installing insulation in the channel where you can switch the cool air to exit the bottom of the unit. I also fixed the internal cavity to ensure no air is lost between in/out ports. Helped improve roof air pressure as well. You lose the local air but the roof air is very adequate with both items done. Not silent but significantly reduced noise. The issue is the blower air hits the lower register and it’s all thin plastic hence the noise. Try it. You will be very happy. Cheers,

Personally, I like white noise. So I turn the fan to LOW and it runs all night, compressor on or not. that way no start/stop to wake me up. Nor do I hear neighbors if I am in a campground that might get up before me.

Rooftop A/C units have been loud for years.

Only the more recent ducted INTAKE units are somewhat quieter.

There is also a company selling an add on device that supposedly brings the noise to a more comfortable level. I belive they are called WackO Products.

Like Brian, at night, we typically run the fan on low so it stays on regardless of compressor operation.

Same thing, lock the fan to a setting all night.

Personally I like the noise also. Makes everything outside quiet.

And for those running on external generators, this reduces the start load as the AC cycles since the fan does not have to restart.
