And I maintain that arrogance is not very becoming. Suggesting people that are not as good as you shouldn't own an rv is....well... I'll leave it at that.
That's not what I think he intended to say. Rather that the RV and its sub contractors' support industry is not well endowed with skills and capital so if you are not self reliant or willing to accept often indefinite repair delays, this is not the "activity" that will allow you the "pursuit of happiness". There are others like this too and includes buying a new build house or undertaking a major renovation. Its not arrogance, IMO its just reality.

Its frustrating, I agree, but what would you propose the RV brand owners do to improve the reliability of the equipment they specify. None of them have the organization that offers across the board purchasing leverage to leverage this from their suppliers. Furthermore, unlike aircraft and boats/ships, there are no industry wide MTBF standards or testing methodologies. Of course Covid has made any learning curves these suppliers had processed substantially disappear creating the Monday/Friday environment for which Detroit was so infamous in the 60s and 70s.

This will improve in part because of the persuasion of Brian, Dynamax, FR and even Berkshire Hathaway. But without data this will take some time.

.
That's not actually true.

1. There is an industry wide set of standards. it is ANSI A119?

2. In addtion, we are beholden to DOT, NHTSA, OSHA and the TREAD act.
