I5 Entry door combo lock blowing fuses
Here's the basics:
1) Entry door combo lock dead (no lights, etc.)
2) Replaced fuse under steps, blows immediately.
3) With power off, checked continuity of jamb contacts to ground - top (assumed +12 line) is open (good), bottom is short to gnd (also good).
4) Checked continuity of spring contacts at door to ground (I'm assuming within the door all would be floating but no schematic. - Bottom contact is open, top is shorted to ground, so as soon as door closes, 12V line shorts to gnd (not good).
5) Removed spring contacts panel - wire insulation looks good as much as I can see, but that's only a couple inches in.
6) Removed inside of lockset - nothing removable/accessible here.
7) Removed number pad on outside - unplugged connector. Checked continuity of harness in door - red is shorted to ground, black is floating. Harness seems permanently built into door, no way to fish out the old or pull in a new wire.
How does one access the inside of this door? It seems to just be assembled (hastily) with no regard to future access. If I just had contact issues, I'd replace the spring contacts with one of those armored cables, but it's shorted within the door somewhere.
Thoughts?
