Interesting EQ smart level issue

My EQ system has been a bit off since new ‘5/20/2020’ it works but seems to ‘fall’ off on the left side. 2021 Isata 5 30fw equalizer EQ Smart level.

Worked with Charlie at EQ for about an hour, he had me make sure the valves were all closed (ccw on the 1/8” Allen screw). Purge the system of air - full up on the forward jacks, then full up on the rear jacks, wait 15 mins then retract all, wait 15, repeat three more times.

They closed shop for the weekend before I was done, so I thought I’d ask the ‘crew’ on the forums if anyone was familiar enough with these systems about anything else I might be able to check?

While purging the system one thing became consistent, when lowering the front jacks the front left jack would ‘fall off’ about halfway while extending then rapidly come back up to the jack stops, the rears seemed smooth each purge session. This would lead me to think the left front jack valve is suspect, a check valve? Leaky seal? I did run the left front valve Allen screw both cw then ccw to verify it was seated. Oh, also no visible fluid leaks.. ☺️

Seems there may be no further user intervention available to me but perhaps someone here has trick or two in the back pocket? Thought I’d ask!! 🧐

Thx!
Jeff

I think you probably have it diagnosed correctly. I don’t have any input for the front left jack. I will say that I have found doing a Retract All command and letting it run before I auto level has improved performance. I assume you have reset the null point already since it seems you are way beyond that point.

I have heard good things about Equalizer tech support so hopefully they can get you fixed up on Monday.

Thumbs up Follow up

Replaced the left front jack today, seems to have solved the problem of ‘falling off’ as I described in the original post.

Working with EQ tech support and describing the issue they determined the most likely problem was a defect in the jack ram, most likely an issue with the actual cylinder rather than seals as the jack never leaked down.

EQ shipped me a new jack and authorized a service call which in this case I paid and EQ will reimburse me directly.

Hats off to the techs at EQ and their willingness to work with an remote owner!!
