Interesting truma event
Camping at Hecla for the weekend.
Was here last weekend too..
water pressure sucks, so both last weekend and this weekend.. running water pump. ( aquajet)
Tonight the water pump ran after flushing toilet, and did not shut off.
Wife says there's water coming from the water heater outside.
I turn the pump off, and go open the water heater door. Pump back on, and water is coming out of the pressure relief valve..... just a small stream.
I open it, close it.. turn the pump back on.. a few seconds and water comes out again.. it's supposed to open at 100psi.
Not sure why I'm getting a small stream out of it?
Switched back to city water and all ok.
But the pressure is lower.
Thoughts?

Those valves go bad and objects get stuck in them. Easy to replace with a new one from a dig box store.

Turn off the water heater and let it cool down (use the water productively, no problem with that ... ) and then manually hold the pressure relief valve open for MORE than a few seconds ... repeat a few times.
Just thinking, some floaters / debris got into the hot water tank, and when it pressurized and then vented, one got stuck in the seal. Could be a simple fix ...
But as pointed out, these do fail.

Also, slap the toggle allowing the valve to snap back into position.

Left it on city for the rest of the weekend.
When I got home tonight, I started playing with the valve.
Open close open close. Tap tap with a small hammer.
Seems to have sealed itself up.
Working fine now!

Had a similar issue on another unit and it ended up being a pressure thing. What is the PSI on that Aquajet?
Those relief valves on the Truma are NOT replaceable like regular water heaters, But they tell me they cycle test every single unit and those rarely fail if ever.

Supposed to be able to handle 60psi...but if either device is not perfectly set up, maybe the Aquajet is pushing a little higher and the Truma releasing a little lower, I can see it releasing pressure. The other possible cause would be dirt/foreign matter in the valve seat. Highly possible with new construction.

It seems to be holding.
I'll keep using it with the pump and keep an eye on it.

In speaking with truma and remco...
Remco thought maybe an air pocket.. I’m not sure, but it’s possible I ran the fresh tank down enough to create air in the system.
I’ve been running water pump for 3 days, without a drip from the water heater.
Truma has offered to replace the unit, but it looks like it’s all good!

We had the same thing happen to us in Feb. we put a pressure reducer on water source which took care of the problem. We were on the road for 6 weeks after that & never had another issue with leaking from relief valve. Truma was very helpful & willing to replace the unit if needed. They even gave us a name of.someone in the area to contact for replacement
..great customer service.
