Isata 3 Floor Repair

Don’t know how it happened but during a stop the sink cover bounced on the floor and left a small cut.

Any recommendations on what I can use to repair it? The picture doesn’t show it well but the cut is 3/8” and right across a seam.

Thanks,
Dave

Pick up some seam sealer. Heat the area to get it to fold back under and lay flat. It's a fiberglass floor so it should go back. After it's flat apply some seam sealer. Stay off it for a few hours till it sets. I believe the floor is Armstrong so this would be the sealer.

I would tell you the same thing ^^^

You can get the seam sealer at any Home Depot or Lowes.

The cut is at a fake seam made to look like where wood planks come together. I just need to seal the small cut. I'll checkout the seam sealer.

Thanks

That is a Shaw floor. We used Beauflor before that (grayer with smaller grout lines).

Its a nice floor, good color, easy to keep clean.

What do your guys use to fill a small cut?

This is the first awe-shucks event on our Isata Still looks like it did on delivery day, except for the cut.

We don't. We hire a company to do it. Creative Colors I think is a national franchise. They primarily handle auto vinyl/leather repair, but they do RV's as well now.

After seeing a damaged floor in an Isata that was caused by a transporter's luggage and assessing how easy it is to damage this flooring, we decided to put a rubber-backed runner on the main floor. We also cut up rubber-backed Apache Plush Tuff Olefin mats to fit in the bedroom & bathroom of our RW. More comfort under feet, much tougher, removable (not glued in) & easy to vacuum. We have used these mats since 2004 in a previous coach over a tiled floor so the dogs could walk without slipping. We still have them today and they are still in great shape. The great thing about them is you can draw the pattern on the rubber backing, cut them with a razer knife & they do not fray over time. Many colors to choose from. The beige heather blends well in our coach.

That appears to be a very small nick. If I were addressing this, the first thing I would do is "dress the cut". Carefully heat the area with a hair dryer, use something like a nut pick to carefully pull back the cut to see if there is material underneath that would not allow the vinyl floor to lay down flat. Remove any particles necessary. Heat the the area until the surface is pliable and tuck it back into place. If it seats perfectly, use the nut pick to lift the edges, apply what ever you choose to hold it in place, then using heat, tuck it back in place.
Clean and glue residue, make sure the repair is matched in, then use wax paper over the area and use a weight to keep the repair in place until it sets.
The wax paper will prevent unintentional adhesion to the weight.

When there is a fracture in wood or vinyl floor, there will always be particles that will not allow a 100% mating. Removing those small bits makes a big difference.

Shaw Industries is also owned by Warren Buffet!! Go figure!!

In my other life, one of the things I did was flooring inspections, vinyl and carpet. Never did any vinyl floors for Shaw, but did many for Mannington, similar products. Most manufacturers want specific products used when repairs are required. Not sure if you still have a warranty on your floor, but using the wrong product could possibly void any warranty you might have. Or, just as bad, the product you use may not be compatible with the Shaw vinyl.

Suggest you get in touch with a Shaw Representative for more feedback.

We'll be traveling to Taos New Mexico in a week or so along I-40. We got an appointment with Creative Colors in Oklahoma City to fix the flooring and a couple of small knicks in the driver's seat back - some nut ran the slide in with the seat back too far

$100, but the Creative Colors tech said it should look like new.

On our stop in OKC we had Creative Colors come by the RV Park to repair the floor. These guys are really good!
