Isata 3 GPS trim/plate

The large trim plate around the GPS, heater controls and 4 ways is delaminating at some edges. It would seem that some RV manufactures change the trim pieces in the cab. I was wondering if Brian C could tell me if this was a dealer repair/replacement or something that I should take MB.

Pictures would help. We don't use a stick on application like some OEM''s, we use an automotive hydro-graphic process. So it really can't delaminate. A picture would give me an idea of what's going on.

Picture above: Bottom air bubbles are most noticeable, it is also coming away around all dials too.

I'll shoot that to the supplier to get their thoughts. I don't think that is a Mercedes issue.

well, good news bad news. While we can make a new part, that is not delam. It looks like heat is warping the material...according to the supplier.

My production manger asked who put that brake controller there. He said those need to breath and vent off as they do generate some heat...the warped section is right over the brake controller. So even if we did make a new part, they think it will likely warp again until that controller is moved.

My 2019 is doing the same, but with no brake controller. (see pic)

Any way to get a replacement?

Well...that's helpful. I can show this to the supplier as well. I think this is different, but same result. Something failed.

Yes, you would submit this as a warranty item to your dealer.

The brake control was put in yesterday by me, that is when I noticed this current issue. I have not picked up my trailer yet, brake control has not been used. The separation is all the way to the top of the heat control dials which is along way for a little bit of heat to travel. The brake control installation sheets don't even mention clearance. There is clearance at the sides and back of the control and considering the back of slot was opened up for the wires I can't see that being the issue, especially as there seems to be no venting holes on the device. A Brake control in use does not even get warm to the touch.

Actually I just talked to the supplier. If you two are willing to pull those off and send them to be directly, I can send replacements directly.

the supplier asked if he could get them for testing.

I'm fine if not, you would just work that through a dealer...just depends on your comfort level.

I would be more than happy to ship it your way, however we are leaving on a 3 month trip in approx. 3 weeks.

I am assuming we wouldn't receive our replacement by then?

Could we expedite the shipment? If not - I can send it to you, once we are back in March.

The supplier is supposed to be bringing me replacements by Friday. So if you PM me your address, last 8 of your VIN I can get it right now.

Then to ship it to me,

Just send it to my attention:

Brian Clemens
2745 Northland Dr.
Elkhart, IN 46515

And to be clear these should both be the black/gray wood grain, correct? I don't think he is making the burl wood version.

Go UK - just take a flat head screwdriver or the edge of a putty knife & pry one of the corners outward. Then carefully work the tool around all sides of the trim without cracking it. So it will just pop away from the dash.
You will also need a phillips head driver to remove the bottom portion that includes your hazard toggle & door lock buttons

FYI: I never noticed this problem until I was putting in the brake control. Because of the angle of the plate it is difficult to see. I also have a small bit on the door handle area that looks like the product did not adhere. I am not worried about this little bit, it is not noticeable unless you are looking for it. It doesn't look like this would/should get worse overtime but would like to hear what the supplier has to say after seeing the returned piece.

Yes, no worries. It was pretty obvious after we got the 2nd picture it had nothing to do with the brake controller.
