Smile Isata 3 RW - want to share our storage alterations

We have a 2017 Isata 3 RW. It’s 24’ with a rear bed slide out. We love it and bought this model because of the underneath storage.

I wanted to share some photos of easy storage alterations we made to the interior.

The first 3 photos are of our coach.

Photo 4 - we bought this cart from Walmart for about $20. It’s easy to store on the bed while traveling. When camping, we put our dishes and coffee maker on it. All of the things we use daily are easily assessable. The cart does not take up much space, and makes the coach feel a little like home. We added the paper towel holder on the left and hang our keys on the hooks on the right.

Photo 5 - the wardrobe area under the hanging clothes area had just 2 shelves to put the rest of our clothes. We found this Elfa drawer unit at The Container Store and it fit perfectly in there after we removed the shelf and some of the molding. There are 4 drawers so my husband and I each have 4. Everything is easy to find. We store underwear, tee shirts, pants, shorts, etc. Elfa has 3 different sizes and this is the middle size. We bought the larger size first but the doors wouldn’t close so we exchanged them for the middle size.

Photo 6 - My husband added shelves in the storage area in the bathroom, so now we each have a spot to store our stuff, with towels above and laundry hamper below. Wood from shelf taken from wardrobe was used to make it look finished.

Photos 7 & 8 - there was no place to put shoes so I made a couple of shoe holders out of fabric and attached them to the walls with screws. I can put a pair of flip flops in a pocket, so it gives me room for several pairs of shoes.

Photo 9 - my husband made a shelf for the cabinet above the cab, giving us more storage room from shorter items.

Photo 10 - Things can fall out of this open space above the cab, so we took a piece of wood (from the shelf we removed from the wardrobe) and screwed it on the top. This brace can swivel from side to side for storing and removing items. We now feel safe from things falling out while we are in transit (which actually happened)

We’re pretty excited about the easy alterations we made and now feel like we have ample storage inside our coach.

Lots of cool ideas, thanks for sharing.

I'm looking for someone who has expanded the too small shelf compartment in your last photo. It needs to be 12" deep to hold a DirecTv DVR. So far my expensive Sat Antenna is 25 lbs of dead weight

Yes, very nice.

Obieco makes a ton of netting supplies too. That is another one that would go well in that front area. We leave it open for Satellite receiver, Blu Ray, etc...but if not used for that a ledge or net would be nice.

See how stylish that looks? Sort of cool and hip.

I seemed to get my belt loops stuck on the bathroom door all too frequently, so I installed a standard, round door knob. I realized after the fact that I should have installed a nonlocking knob, and will replace this with what I think is called a closet knob.
I also installed some coat hooks where the wall panel is located next to the coach door, behind the passenger seat. I removed the screw head covers and used the same holes, and drilled one more for each hook. There is wood framing to screw into, so pretty solid. Very handy. I think I saw that they now have a sleek, folding coat hook in that general area on new models. If you note the damaged wood grain wall covering above the double hook, that is where a 3M hook failed.

Oh...he "Blue's Clue's'd you" Scott. I thought i was the only one that did that.

Nick Burns "your company's computer guy".

Did you read the manual? You know they teach this kind of stuff on Blue's Clue's.

As the unofficial IT guy for my office, I love that sketch.

excellent ideas I picked up our 2018 isata 3 rw in June of 2017 and after 17000 mile s of shake out and getting used to the coach the wife and I love it we got it from Goshen in indiana Thanks to John and Josh and Brian and drove to Alaska (home) then back to Tx in sept and home in late oct. great performance and mileage. We learned a lot and really will be doing these ideas and a few of our own, since I tow a boat or ATV trailer. I have owned a few different RVs and also now this one to add to our 40 ft fifth wheel so I can see the value of your ideas. I did add a outside storage tray to the hitch and a dual receiver ( one on top of the other ) to carry the storage tray and tow at the same time. Carry extra fuel or firewood etc. also considering how to add an extra fuel tank in that rear storage area. SPrinter .com store has an auxiliary 30 gal and plumbing. measures 45"x 45"x 24" . Since mine is in deep winterization here till Late Mar I haven't been able to measure if it will fit yet. So Far a very happy camper with our toy.

I downloaded mine to the I pad. Easier to use than paper and it's always with me when I travel.
