Isata 3FW Awning Retraction

Does anyone know the particulars of the motion-activated retraction? I am assuming there is not a switch for activation. Is it automatic? Does heavy winds trigger the retraction?

I am curious - because I have had the awning extended in windy conditions & it never retracted until I did it manually.

Any information would be appreciated.

I have the same feature on my Isata 5 and it takes a pretty good wind to activate the auto close, I would estimate 12-15 mph sustained.

The way I test it is a highly scientific method, very difficult to replicate...

I grab one corner of the awning when extended and jerk down a couple of times. It starts to roll in after that.

I just wish I was tall enough to grab the awning to test it!

That’s how I tested mine. It worked as advertised.

Same here; four or five moderately brisk up and down swings and in she goes.

Works as advertised with the testing methods already posted. Just haven't got to what wind speed that equates too. Either way when in doubt close it down. If you would feel uncomfortable out in the wind sitting down for a picnic then use the same analogy in bringing it in.

Coming back from the Rally, I stayed at Safe Habor. I know the awning was out and I did not take it in and a storm came through during the night. I pulled away the next morning and then panicked a bit I asked the wife "you brought the awning in right?" she said no, I thought you did. I got out and checked and apparently it came in over the night on its own from the storm.

So I guess "storm-ish" wind speeds will do it

Works great, gusty wind or a few vigorous shakes and it will auto retract.
