Isata 5 4x4 maintenance front universal joint
Nice of FCA to send a maintenance notice except I own a 2x4 not a 4x4.
Passing info along.

I don't remember seeing the sticker under my hood. Will look again tomorrow. My 2017 3500 has the sticker and greasing that joint is a pain the ass.

Thank you for this. It's time for me to find this grease hole.

I bought an air powered grease gun from harbor freight and this needle from amazon for my 2015 Ram 4x4. once you watch a couple videos on internet its not that bad of a job. But for $20 bucks the air grease gun was nice to have so you don't need 2 hands to pump and one to hold needle on fitting.

No but I suspect its all 4WD models. There is another pub as well that speaks to this requirement. Nothing in the OM.

This maintenance requirement is in both the OM (Page 318 bottom left) but its vague; and the WSM extract attached.
WSM is difficult to use as it requires Windows Explorer and after its use, the computer has to be rebooted if you wish to use any other browser. Wonder if anyone else has a work around this?

If its like the 3500, I think this special lube spot came out around 2012.
its on the front driveshaft so its only 4x4.

This same shaft has been used for many years, my 2006 has the same requirement. Recommend marking the location with a grease marker for easy locating next time. I actually think the shaft is really close to what they had in the Gen 1 trucks as well.

Can someone post a picture of what this looks like? I have looked on my 2018 30FW (2017 Chassis) and I don't see anything that looks like it can be greased.

Yup, at least 50 years. Anyone who has owned a 4X4 with a NP 203, 205, 208, 213 or 218 transfer case is familiar with this double cardan U-Joint lube fitting. If I remember correctly, there is only one spot in the shaft rotation where the needle fitting is accessible.

I inspected my front drive system this morning and do not have the fitting as described in the Mopar materials. The Cardan u joint has been replaced by a sealed joint and a non serviceable front UJ like the Mopar materials describe.
Also no sticker on the engine compartment fender
2020 Ram 5500/Isata - 5 delivered to Dynamax/Moryde around October 2020

on mine it was not a fitting, its a recessed dimple that is probably got grease and dirt over it. I recall having to look several times until I found it. I cleaning it and put red paint around the area so it stood out next time I went underneath.
but the last one I looked at was a 2018
