Isata 5 Apple Car Play
2019 Dmax, but 2018 Ram chassis with the USB ports hooked up, received a letter from Ram about Apple Car Play, so does this mean we have to go to a dealer to have it setup to work?

If your radio is car play compatible then all you need to do is use the lightening cord to connect your phone to the radio. Give it a few seconds to recognize each other and follow onscreen prompts.
On my Ford Truck I had to update the radio software before I could use CarPlay. That was done over WiFi in my driveway.

Only if you want to use Apple Carplay. It is not just a software update, it is a different module that the USB plugs into.

The CarPlay on my 2018 Ram 2500 required the USB plugged into the port on the right side inside the center console.

yes the one that is under the seat unhooked I believe? If so, Dobecki hooked it up in the console he put on the floor, but unless there is some issue with that hookup. Seems to be plug and play. It does acknowledge the media port, and it charges on the USB, the radio is set to accept Apple Car play but no cigar. I did receive a letter from Ram on the Apple, but I buried it and have to pull it out, don't really want to attempt a Ram dealer appt.

Yes, we are taking care of the "customer service campiagn" before they leave us now.
The new 2019 Ram, no longer has the harness with module, they install everything on the dash.
