Isata 5 Entry Steps

In the process of parking for the winter, I turned off my 12 volt house batteries at the disconnect. After that I entered the coach and the electric steps still worked. Why so? If the chassis batteries are still attached, what else are they attached to?

Yes steps run off of chassis batteries. I can’t tell you what else they power but if you want a 100% off disconnect the auxiliary cables to each of the chassis batteries.

Why so? it's because if you leave the steps out and hit the disconnect for the house (if they were wired there) you could drive off with the steps out. So we wire them to the chassis battery with an override. So if you ever try and drive off with the step out (regardless of house power) they will come in for safety.

Just a thought and maybe not applicable. I thought the steps were fused directly off the coach (house) batteries and that would explain why they still worked with the coach (house) batteries disconnected. The chassis battery is not part of the steps equation. The ignition interlock works as mentioned.

It all is an excellent plan to prevent a big problem. Thanks
