Question Isata 5 M28SS Main water valve broken handle

Does anybody know the part number for this valve? It's the main diversion/selection valve assembly located in the wet bay of my 2020--28SS. The handle is broken off of the valve assembly, its held in place via a small screw that goes into the valve its self. That screw goes into a small square coupling that connects it to the valve assembly. That coupling has broken, its always been a hard valve to operate and today it gave up the battle!
Please note; I have photos of this valve but my laptop (Apple) and the Forest River system don't want to cooperate tonight, it keeps telling me that it doesn't like the file type! banghead: Not sure what I am doing wrong!

If anybody has that part number please pass it along! Thanks for your help in this matter!

If you AirDropped your photos from iPhone to your laptop, the images may be in .HEIC format. If so, you can open the image in the Preview app and save it as either a JPG or PNG file using the 'Duplicate' menu item and then 'Save a Copy'.

Otherwise, you can just email them to yourself and they will be sent as JPGs.

Isata 5 M28SS Main water valve broken handle

TrailWayz, thank you for that info!
I will post a photo of my broken valve in this message. I contacted FR-Dynamax and they don't have any I did get a part number from them and I contacted the manufacture , waiting on a call back from them but this doesn't look good for me.
Hopefully some one out there will know of where I can get one of these valves. I had a trip planned but without a functioning water system, well...

Do you need the whole valve, or just the handle? You could make just about any valve handle work.

Here is a square hole item. https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Out...s%2C67&sr=1-20

They also show this in stock on Amazon.

If the threads are stripped...that screams "needle nose vice grips" to me. At least for the trip.

Isata 5 M28SS Main water valve broken handle

Sorry I guess that title is a bit misleading. The handle is fine it's the small connecting device (Square) that connects the handle to the inside of the valve assembly. That Phillips screw holds the handle in place via the square piece that's the weakest link! It has to take all the turning force (Torque) to operate that valve. This valve has always been extremely difficult to operate from day one. That small connecting part finally gave up the ghost yesterday.

They make some metal square handles...just not sure that square brass part sticks out. Looks like it is flush to the surface.

My engineers are working on a plumbing set up to match our M2 trucks. Eliminates the Anderson valve and uses a SINGLE plastic valve that turns with ease. Not sure if it is retro-fittable (if that's a word), but as soon as I have that I will post it.

Brain, thanks for the feed back as always!
That piece is flush because that's where it's broken! I suppose it did stick out when it wasn't broken. I will post another photos shortly.

Unhappy Isata 5 M28SS Main water valve broken handle

additional photos of the broken connecting piece & handle. I did have to use pliers to operate this valve, I am old fart and without lies it just won't move! Interesting part is once it decided to move it did it without to much effort but after a day or more of not using it/turning that handle it would go back to being a real PIA!!

Isata 5 M28SS Main water valve broken handle

Thanks for the feed back, I don't believe that would work as there is very little clearance between the broken part in the valve assembly and the outside casting. I might go to Lowes and checkout out for sure but..

Brian, he's sheared the valve stem clean off. The top portion is in the handle; the bottom is in the valve. The square portion remaining in the valve is probably very short--not enough to reliably grab with a key or knob.

Does Anderson supply the stem? Is it easy to replace without special tools?

Do you release the pressure in your plumbing before trying to turn the valve? If not you may want to try that to make turning easier.

Mine is getting hard to turn. I always release pressure at the low point drain, and always turn clockwise.

I have sent two requests to Andersen asking if there is any method to lubricate the valve, no response so far.

I do not know that the valve insert on the brass Andersens can be removed, or replaced. I have examined the valve as much as possible installed, and am not seeing any obvious way to release the core.

There was a post in one of the two FB groups on bypassing the valve, about June 12th, but FB search is failing me tonight.

NIGO Industrial Co. 180SS Series 3-Way (L-Port) Forged Brass Ball Valve, Lever Handle, NPT Female, Full Port 400WOG (3/4") https://a.co/d/2f1PPXq

Not sure I see the full function of the valve but if it's simply a three-way valve would it be possible to adapt one of these into its place

Won't do, you are missing a port. it's similar to this https://manuals.heartlandowners.org/...%20Way%20Valve

My anderson valve on my 28ss is also hard to turn. The fix I found was to relieve all pressure from water system by turning off the pump, no water feed from outsibe (city system) and using the outside water (shower) to relieve line pressure, and voila turns easy peasy. Just say ing.

They have a good selection.

Check with Granger Supply.

Brass 3-Way Ball Valves, 2-Piece Valve Structure
Made from an alloy of copper and zinc, brass valves offer malleability and corrosion resistance, with added durability. Brass valves are stronger and harder than copper, yet more malleable than steel and iron, allowing them to resist cracking. They can withstand extremely high temperatures, and will not rust.

3-Way Valves with an L-Shaped Hole allow water to flow from one inlet into one of two different outlets.
