Isata 5 Rear Shocks

Anyone replaced the shocks in their Isata 5?

I'm looking to replace them and contacted Marcus at Koni to get the correct part number for their FSD shock and he tells me that they do not make one for the Ram 5500.

What are people replacing their shock with? Bilsteins? Monroe? KYB?

Or just the OEM Ram shocks?

I had my front driver shock fail after 4 months. Replaced it with a factory shock

Liquidsprings. Makes a huge difference. The shocks are not the problem, its the spring rate needed for an overload situation as spec'd by Mopar.

Liquidsprings? Did you do the whole setup $16K cost.

Thanks for the suggestion but I've had airbags installed last year and it was riding wonderfully with the bags pumped up to 50PSI, now it rides rough and I think the shocks may need replacing.

Silly question, but did you check to see if the air bags are still at 50 psi?

Yes sir, still at 50.

Replaced the Continental Tires with 6 new Michelin's and the ride is better but still hear more creaking that I'm used to after 4 years.

Checking to see which of these two I can get this week and replace the rear shocks and see if that is the problem.

How did you ascertain that pressure? Are your air bags user adjustable?

The company that installed them advised testing 40, 50 and 60 PSI and determine what seemed to be the most comfortable. We tried all the recommended pressures and settled on 50PSI.

It has performed well till the last trip as we had a 4 month period when the coach just sat unused.

Yes, each bag has a separate fill port so I can fill and adjust as needed.

Maybe I need to try changing pressures to see if that has any effect.

Please take a picture of one of your fill ports. Mine are inside the wheel well plastic liner and quite unreachable without removing the wheel. That is unless there are others somewhere else?

In any event, the bag pressures are set by a compressor and a tank mounted underneath just behind the transmission. So I do not know how/why a fill port would be used except in the event the compressor failed? I have not found any way to alter the pressure the compressor references. Nothing in the OM and the factory tells me there are NO user settings.
