Isata3 Jeep Wrangler unlimited

Anyone towing one of these with a Isata3. I think they are only 3 to 4 hundred pounds over the Wrangler. How do you like them?

We have a solera which is on same chassis and tow a 2 door rubicon
And tows great. Love the vehicle
For camping. If you got a very basic one would probably be ok
I've seen people towing modded jeeps I know are over weight, just make sure have an auxiliary breaking system

My Jeep Unlimited weighs 4550 LBS according to the CAT scales (we must have had some extra stuff in it). I think the Isata 3 can tow 4200 LBS, so the extra 350 lbs would have to come out of the OCCC, which is not much of an option on most Isata models. I did read on another forum that someone towed the unlimited & the Sprinter did fine.

If we down-size it looks like a lighter towed for us.

2k sounds a little low to me for everything you need installed. In addition to the tow bar and possibly base plate you need rear stop, brake and turn signal lights that work with your motor home then you need a system to operate the brakes on the Jeep. I would find out exactly what is included in the quote you got.

Don't forget the brakes!!! The Sprinter will not stop fast enough if you have to slam on the brakes without the toad braking too.

Food for thought
The 2018 wrangler is going to be redesigned with use of aluminum to make it lighter and more fuel efficient. Also wranglers have an amazing resale value, used ones sell high if not beaters.

Ok, Just got a 17 Jeep wrangler and found someone to order and install the Blue OX system rated for 6500 lbs for $1240 plus $200 for install.
Not sure I need a brake system. Has anyone pulled one without it. They told me to try it first I may not need one. Its not to late I could still order one.
We will be going up to Canada as soon as next week.

For most states in the USA, you need a supplemental braking system for your towed vehicle if it is over 3000 lbs. As I remember there is at least one state that requires it if over 1500 lbs.

Definitely need brake system. Sprinter brakes are already soft without a toad. We just started pulling a Wrangler 2 door . Ready brute elite tow bar with built in braking, cooltech wiring harness, Currie base plate. All worked great on our trip to the Smokey mountains. Glad to have the Jeep brakes activating on hills and short stops. Can't imagine going without toad brakes after that trip.

We have a DYNAMAX Isata 3 and I spent a lot of time looking for the right Jeep. The TJ's, 1998-2006 have the 4 litre straight were all (most) around 3200 lbs. so we shopped and shopped until we found one. It's an '04 Sahara with 60K miles. We have driven it 300 miles since last November and towed it over 2,900 miles. I was toying with the idea of not buying a braking system but it's not worth the risk. Too many drivers cut you off, or can't merge and don't want to be any where near a Motorhome when they see one. The sprinter does fine during normal braking and the jeep brakes don't come on every time, so you won't wear the jeep breaks out. But when you need to stop, the sprinter is not going to stop you fast enough with a 3-5K toad behind you. There are many options out there for braking systems. Click image for larger version

Thanks for all of your comments, I ordered the RVi 3 hope it works out. I
wanted something that would be easy to install and this is what I come up
with.
