Since I installed the new Kenwood in my XL when I hit the turn signal and the side view cameras come on in the screen the sound gets muted. Is that normal operation or another wiring issue? Camera view is great, much better than the original stock radio.

Who installed the Kenwood? It sounds like the left/right turn signal trigger is also trying to trigger the audio...but since those side camera do not have audio (only the rear does) then it is just blank noise. I have not seen this before...so it could be a setting in the radio. We don't use the radio as the monitor, as we use a separate monitor today.

I put in the Kenwood and the turn signals did not trigger a mute. I am wondering if it is a setting in the Kenwood causing this. Since then, I have switched to another monitor for the cameras.

I had a local stereo shop guy come out to the house and do it. I had the same problem everyone else has been having with the reversed power wires. I fixed that yesterday with halla’s help. Did not try the turn signals to see if that might have had any effect on the situation.
I will try that later today and look through the settings as well.

Could not find any setting to change to stop the audio from cutting out when the turn signals are activated or when it is put into reverse. Next step is to call Kenwood, if they are open. Not sure why mine is doing it and no one else is having this problem. Hopefully, Kenwood can solve the riddle.

I just looked at my manual and on page 73 it gives instructions to adjust audio for rear camera. I have a separate monitor so can’t check on mine. Not sure if this helps or not.

Yeah, I saw that and checked to be sure I was set correctly. There is also a setting that toggles “Rear Camera Interrupt” on and off. When that is set to “Off” it solves the problem of interrupting the music, but then no camera view comes up in the radio when in reverse or with the turn signals on. So, it only controls the interruption of the video on the screen not audio. Back to the search for an answer.

I am wondering if this is a Park wire issue? just thinking, the unit triggers the camera and shuts off the sound, much like a lot of DVD players in vehicles that have to be in Park to watch the video. If the park brake wire isnt grounded, when the turn signal turns on cutting out the sound, maybe check to see if the parking brake wire is grounded.? Just thinking out loud from other projects I have done. I know I grounded mine when I installed the Kenwood so I could keep the reverse camera on at all times. ??????

Spent an hour on the phone with Kenwood. “Oh this is easy. You just need to Initialize the unit and that will clear it up.” Well, not so much. Did the Initialize step while the tech was on the phone. Not only did it not fix my problem, but it wiped out every setting, Bluetooth connection and caused some other issues. Fortunately, after another hour of chasing down the odd settings it caused, I got everything back to where it was and working properly, with exception of the cameras interrupting the sound.
Halla, I haven’t pulled the radio back out to check for the grounding, but I can turn my backup camera on full time.
This one’s a baffler for sure. Probably going to turn out to be something ridiculously simple.

I know it is a pain to pull the dash. Multiple times I get the last screw into the dash panel, and then find something laying on the seat that was supposed to be hooked back up. lol

Let me know if you get a chance to see if that wire is grounded. Just curious.

When in reverse, it is doing what it is supposed to do.

When in reverse, it is triggering the reverse image and is not really muting the radio, but is switching the audio over to the "rear camera mic". That way if someone is helping you park, you can hear them.

What seems to be happening is that when the turn signals come on, it is doing the same thing...but I'm not sure why that wouldn't be the case.

Remember, the camera switcher is what handles what is going to the Kenwood. the kenwood doesn't know if it is right, left or reverse. It its mind...its always reverse. What the camera switcher is doing, is determining which image to send.

I think the easy solution if you don't want audio is to disconnect the "audio out". Maybe if it doesn't see an audio source it won't change to that mic???

Replacing Sony XAV-602BT with Kenwood DNX775RVS

From reading this thread and others, I am of the impression that a number of Dynamax owners are switching from the Sony AV Center Model XAV-602BT to the Kenwood DNX775RVS .

Is this replacement just unplug the Sony and plug in the Kenwood?

Any help will be appreciated.

Not really plug and play, you need to re-wire the Kenwood. The harness on the rear of the radios are not the same. It doesnt take very long to match up the wires and switch it over.

Garmin also makes "stand alone" versions of their RV & Truck navigation. Some with larger screens.

The benefit to that nav is that it takes into account vehicle length, height and width along with overall length if you are towing. Might be easier to add the stand lone version if you are mainly looking for the Nav upgrade.

Replacing Sony XAV-602BT with Kenwood DNX775RVS

Thank you for the prompt response.

Halla, the info on wiring was helpful. I see where Crutchfield sells the Kenwood and the factory wiring connector to go with it.

Bclemens, early on I purchased a Garmin RV GPS and fixed it to the windshield. It works well.

As the radio stopped working, I have no choice but to replace it.

Next on my wish list is a separate monitor for the rear and side cameras.

I bought and had installed the Kenwood DNX775RVS. Never noticed anything about the muting issue on turn signals. However, we did have to pull it out again and swapped the yellow and red wires (I think it was) with butt connectors to make the setup screen go away (as long as battery isolation switch is left on, which seems to be turned off at least weekly to work on something).

Electrical Bay Fuse Block and Fuse Protection for the Kenwood

I found the red and yellow wires to the radio had no power with or without the ignition switch turned on.

The fuse block in the electrical bay has 12 fuses of various amp ratings. These are:
Top row = 20, 5, 10, 10
Middle row = 20, 30, 20 7.5
Bottom row = 5, 20, 20, 20

Can anyone tell me what do the 12 fuses protect?

I found the 10, 7.5, and 5 amp fuses blown??? Any ideas on why?

The Sony radio had a 10 amp fuse on the back of it. The Kenwood has a 15 amp fuse on the back of it. When installing a Kenwood in place of the Sony, are you increasing the fuse protection in the electrical bay to 15 amps and, if so, for the yellow, red, or both wires?
