I'll give these methods a try. I thought the contacts were pretty clean. I think it might be one of the two fingers not popping out to touch the contact on the door jam.

WD40 to free up pins, then dialectric grease for the contact points.

I had to take the door contacts apart, one of the pins was slightly bent and was not moving to make contact, it was sticking all the way in. Got that fixed, used some sand paper to scuff up the contact plates and I used Dielectric Grease, which I hate to mention because I get told on the forum that it “doesnt conduct electric”, but it does work and the lock has had no more issues since.

folowing for a resource. Our lock worked today at the beach, then when we got back to the storage lot, it wouldn't lock and no power, no lights on the key pad, the fob wouldn't work, nothing. Just had it to the dealer for another issue and they "fixed" this, supposedly. sigh...

Just curious but WHY are the electrical contacts from frame to door down at the bottom. Isn't that where all water, dirt, and damage from hauling gear (not to mention little kid's curiosity) will be focused.

Why not at the top of the door frame??

Just wondering.

Was considering the purchase of a Keyless Entry Lock for my TT but after reading threads like this my Key Type lock is looking better and better.

I would think the contact at the top of the door would make sense, less chance for dirt and grime. The only thing would be getting the wires up there and down through the door.

Had the same problem with mine, was a bad lock call manufacturer and they sent me a new one. Very easy to replace.

I finally called Arlen at Challenger today to get a replacement keypad. I followed Ken’s instructions to describe the issue and Arlen immediately offered a replacement that he is shipping directly to me.

According to Challenger, their supplier has upgraded the relays and so they believe this is no longer an ongoing issue after the initial replacement. None of the updated keypads have died.

A huge shout out to Ken for his technical research. [emoji122]

I second this! I called Arlen and he was super helpful and quick to respond to my call and shipping out a new keypad to where we were staying! Ken, thanks for all your legwork on this issue! This thread has been EXTREMELY helpful!

Quick question: The new keypad includes a gasket and the old keypad also has a keypad, but ALSO utilizing a sealant of some sort from Dynamax. What is everyone doing with the new keypad? Gasket Only? Sealant as well? What sealant?

thanks for the comments guys.

It is just starting to warm up around here. I might be able to get the beast out of the shop (storage) in the near future. Some of the snow drifts were approaching 8 ft. DW has stated several times "I want to go glamping!"

I used an off the shelf black silicone sealant in addition to the gasket. Considered this to be "insurance" to keep water out.

Great history review--My problem is the Key Pa and remote unlock but won't lock (opposite of others) Not sure Arlen still works @ Challenger but definitely will attempt to follow up. So sorry I didn't get into this site earlier!!
P.S. Is Hook 47 still active??
