Kudos to Dicor

Had some warranty work done for a leak in the air lines at local Freightliner shop back in November. Had them re-torque the wheels. Took a short trip later in the spring and drove with the windows down and heard a clicking noise from front wheels. Two trips back to FL and still clicking. BC gave me a point of contact with FL and he suggested taking off hub caps and seeing if that was the problem. It was; the 2 retaining nuts were too tight. This had been done when wheels had been re-torqued and each time they worked on the clicking noise. I put them back on a little looser. Guess too loose because I lost one; will use locktite now. Found out the wheels are supplied by Dicor. (Danielle Sodeman, Dynamax parts: "Dicor Corp supplies the wheels to us the part #is VAC10285-F1422").
I ordered two nuts/covers from the Dicor website but the ones I received were two small. Called and got the right ones coming. The correct parts were not listed on the website. No charge for the correct ones and told to keep the others as they fit the rears. Great customer service from all.

FYI:
Part #V22506-RJN for jam nut, front
#V22506-LNS for acorn cover, front.
Part #V19582-EJN for jam nut/cover combo, rears.

Sorry to bring this one back from the dead, but I've got the same clicking noise...maybe only coming from the driver's side front wheel. At the bottom of your post, you mention a part number for both a jam nut and the acorn cover for the front wheel liners. Just to clarify, which one being over tightened was the source of the noise?

Anything past 2 weeks and my memory becomes iffy. But, I believe there are two big Acorn nuts that pull off and then there is the jam nut that actually fastens the cover and other non-removable acorn nuts to the wheel. That jam nut needs to be just tight enough to hold the cover on. To prevent having the acorn nut and threaded stud extension from coming off, I use lock tight on both stud extension (which actually can be torqued down tightly w/o a problem for noise) and the lock nut. Don't ask how I know it will come off.

Hope I made this plain as mud for you!

As I reread this, that nifty lug nut wrench I got actually fits the bigger front acorn nuts and will remove both acorn and jam nuts. The acorn nut just press fits on the jam nut. But the rest of the info is still good.

The acorn nut being a ‘press fit’ over the jam nut was the part I was missing. The tool that can with my coach fit the acorn nuts on the rear but not the acorn nuts on the front. It did, however, for the jam nut underneath.

None of the four were terribly tight. I removed them all and pulled the liners to make sure nothing was loose and rattling around inside. I put them back on just past hand tight with a dab of blue locktite on each. It’s not obvious to me how this will help, but I sure hope it does.

Thanks again!

I know this is a little late, but the way I discovered the clicking noise was coming from the cap was to remove it and drive. No clicking. If jam nut is tightened too tight apparently the flexing of the wheel causes the clicking because the cap isn't flexing with the wheel. Or maybe it is flexing. Who knows? But it worked!
