M2 drivers seat upgrade

My husband has decided to seriously look into a new drivers seat. I scoured the forum a bit and read people were looking at the Brostrum wide? If you upgraded your seat what did you get, do you like it, where did you order from and who installed it. Brian if Dynamax is offering these as well would like to know, i saw where there are adaptors needed? We do not require it to swivel. We swivel the passenger seat often but usually not driver's. Appreciate any info you can provide.

We are not offering any seat upgrades at this time due to availability. I think most of those seats get quoted at 8-10 weeks and often takes longer.

I bought two of these (plus the required M2 adapter brackets) from Suburban Seats:

Bostrom Wide Ride+Sertaģ High Back Truck Seat in Gray Ultra-Leather with Heat & Dual Arms (BOS-0718)

I did not get a swivel for either one as we rarely/never used that feature in the stock seats, and lowering the overall seat height (on both) was one of the goals.

I installed them myself, and we love them.

Mookieblaylock just curious what color is your interior and did you have to do any wiring or tapping into air system to install?

Magnatudes thanks for the links!!

Same seats as Mookie but black leather. You use the same airline that is there and I had to run 12v to each seat for the heat and cool function I ordered on the seats. No swivel either, easy to install and ride very nice.

What he said. Tapped into the existing airline and ran 12V to each seat.

Our DX3 has the rich caramel/marble interior (that's the really light colored furniture fabric), so these seats don't match the furniture in the coach at all. However, the interior of the cab is gray and the seats match that perfectly. I was a little concerned about how they'd look when I ordered them, but, to me, they don't look out of place at all.

Hope that helps.

Knoedler Power Chief

FWIW, I'm strongly considering this a knoedler Power Chief
It has heat, cool, massage, swivel, memory foam, full recline, just about every adjustment, etc.
Just no side pockets, not available in Ultraleather w/cooling and doesn' have memory which would have been nice.

Halla did you get power lumbar etc adjustments for yours? I read you were looking into that. If you did I'm assuming there is wiring to be done?

Rancher Rob let me know if you get them and what you think.

Mookie glad to hear the gray will match the cab. That should work

The lumbar is powered by air, so that is part of the air, no need for extra wiring.

I had Knoeddler in our first Force, I was going to pull them out if we didnt sell it, they were uncomfortable. But seats are like mattresses, we all find something different that we like.

I ran the 12v power from the compartment behind the battery, added a fused panel for the seats, ran it along the frame and up into the cab on the drivers side. It wasnt too bad adding the power.

We love the heat and cool, it is great. We went with the black leather due to oru interior being Dark Brown, I think they go great, espeically with the gray dash.

So good analogy about seats being like mattresses. What about the stock seats didn't u like that is better in the new seat. (Besides -lack of armrest)Halla you said the knoeddlers weren't comfortable for u, what is better with the Bostrums? If we didnt get heated or cooled would we still need to run wire. Forgive my ignorance just trying to gather all info

I dont believe you need power for anything outside of heat/cool. Bostroms are much more comfortable, we were getting cramps and our legs were going to sleep in the Knoedlers, they were somewhat hard and put pressure on your legs in weird spots. I just know these are better.

The stock ones were ok, I wanted to get rid of the swivel so it road lower, I wasnt able to use the airride with the stock seats, it was too tall to see out the windshield. So I went all out and got heat/cool, air ride and these Bostroms Wide Ride have serta foam and they adjust about 16 different ways. The two armrests are nice too, but they are a little short.

Knoedler LowRider Review

I finally got to take a trip with the Knoedler seat ordered last summer. I ended up with the Knoedler Extreme LowRider for about $3100. It's a lot more comfortable than the original seat! The heat/cool & massage is nice but I find the massage a little anemic. Without the swivel, the seat height is a lot more comfortable for me but I do sometimes miss swivel when parked with a RV full of people.
However, I don't recommend the Knoedler nor Seat Specialists from who I bought it. First the seat showed up without the seatbelt attachment "ICP bar". I didn't realize that until it was installed and about done but we had no way to use seat belt. Then seat specialists charged me another $75 to send out the seatbelt bar that should have been included. When the seatbelt bar showed up, it didn't fit and interfered with some trim on the seat recline. Seat Specialists were totally unhelpful and MIA about that. Wouldn't return calls. They're super helpful in making the sale but after that, if there is a problem, you're on your own.
Luckily, we were able to cut up the seatbelt bar and re-weld it together with a dog leg bend so that it could fit on the seat and works just fine.
Lastly, the Knoedler arm rest bent the first time I got up and used the arm rest to push my self up. The top of the armrests are just thin soft metal, aluminum I think, that is not firmly attached to the base of the armrest. Took it off, took it apart and fixed it and will be careful and delicate with it for now on.

All in All, next time I will be getting a Bostrom from somewhere else.

p.s. Hopefully this isn't too negative a post for the snowflakes. It's not sacrilegious against the sacred Dynamax kingdom so hopefully I won't get flamed/censored for it.

$3100 per seat? So for that money you get a way more comfortable seat that sucks.

I'm not sure what is in the 2021 M2 Force, but I sat in a 2018 XL the other day and spoke to the owner and he thought the stock seat was great, with the exception of only one arm rest.

Yeah, you got to watch out for snowflakes on this forum. They occasionally will absorb your suggestions, sometimes tell you how many years they have in this sport, and much of the time they just label you as blasphemous when they can't handle the critique. But no worries, after a while they'll just ignore you.

I dealt with Knoedler & Seat Specialists a while ago and all I got was excuses on why not. And Knoedler (Canadian outfit) was way out of line on price. Sorry to hear about your negative experience. The lowers are well built. Too bad about the armrest.

My opinion on the Seats. That wide ride isnít a bad seat, if it was going in a day cab M2 I would totally go for it. Very very durable and tough.

My issue with it is I miss the soft Coushy stock seat, but at the same time I didnít like the stock seat at all. The stock seat feels great for 5 mins, but in a long trip I feel myself sliding off it. Honestly I forget what I didnít like about it but remember the missing armrest on the left! Iíll have to order that part for it at least.

Iím going to have a shop we use for Upolstry work on the stock seat and get it to where I like it. See how that works.

When I do get the stock seat working Iíll sell my wide ride, which is like new. Like I said, great seat just a bit too ďtoughĒ for me, at 172 lbs.

All the new seats have two arm rests, stock pedestal w/ stock swivel, so while it is harder to swivel, it does not add to the seat height. It is the upgrading FL seat, with a small foam pack added.

Brian (or anyone), do you have a phone number to order the other armrest for the lexington seat (2018 DX3)?
