MB to Boost GVWR by 990 lbs in Europe

Back in May we talked to a Navion Winnebago sales manager who said WBO engineers promised an OCCC weight boost for the Sprinter. Hadn't read a word about it until now.

Here's a link to an article that tells how Mercedes is boosting the Sprinter chassis weight rating by 990 lbs. It didn't say what was done to the chassis to allow the increase, nor did it say if or when these chassis would be available in the US.

If this was just an increased rating with no chassis mods, that's really, really good news!

Boy, 990 lbs more of CCC would be something

Happy camping.

Dave

Don't get too excited...from what I have heard from our Mercedes rep...the GVWR boost would be for work trucks, etc. No towing.

If MB kept the Sprinter GCWR at 15250 lb, other than lessening the weight limit of towed equipment, how would adding 990 lb to the GVWR impact the combined system performance? A higher GVWR seems like a sweet way to transfer some OCCC from the toad to the coach.

Has there been, or are there any plans to further discuss increasing Sprinter chassis GVWR?

We really like the Isata 3 24FW, OCCC is the only roadblock at this point.

Thanks,

Mike

Using that same logic, why cant you use the excess toad weight for ccc? Load the trunk.

Yes if the toad is there it can carry cargo, but in my situation there will be times without the toad. A greater GVWR would be great in those cases.

Thanks,

Mike
