MCD Shade stuck in the up position
Anyone out there have a fix for a manual MCD privacy shade that is stuck in the up position? I've taken it apart and the spring seems fine. Not sure I understand the function of the long green screw on the other side? It's on the side of the button that controls position but I haven't figured out how it works yet. Ideas?
Thanks,
Casey

Fixed it
After pondering the problem and fiddling with the internal parts of the shade I finally figured it out. The height adjuster a long green screw attached to the 'grey' button side has a couple of green plastic parts one of which has a metal intsert that screws in and out on the long screw in order to set the adjustment. One of the parts had become jammed to the other part, kinda like a putting to nuts on a bolt so that one can become a jam nut. Once I got those two separated I could then adjust the stop height of the shade. I rewound the spring so that the shade speed was where I needed and viola everything works. The MCD videos and troubleshooting guy do not spell out how to do this fix other than to say if it gets jammed just give the shade a hard pull and it will come free. I tried that but mine was so tight I was pulling it off the wall. Anyway all is good. If anyone has this issue and can't figure out the fix PM me and I'll walk you through it. Happy camping.

I describe it above, MCD calls the tension adjustment 'speed'. But like Dynamax MCD has some great self-help and instruction videos on You Tube. I think this is the one you need.
If that doesn't work send me a PM.
Good luck,
Casey

MCD shade won’t roll up.
My problem is that the shade does not roll up. After you roll it up, it just unrolls.

Maybe the spring is unwound?
I presume you watched the video? Maybe take it down and pull it apart to see if something internal is broken? Failing that I’d call MCD tech support.

Usually a long screw driver (philips) will take the screws out of the valance. Once you remove that it's easy to work on or remove the shades. Just remove the screw from up under the top of the valance, that'll leave the two brackets still attached to the wall but the valance will just slide off. Good luck.

That's not a Dynamax. Do you know for sure they are MCD shades? I can't remember what that divisions uses, but I thought it was Irvine Shade.

Thank u again!! It turns out it looks just like a video on the Irvine shade site. The plastic is broken inside, so I’ve got a call in to get a new spring assembly (not sure what to call it).

That’s good news. Glad the Dynamax family could help a fellow Forestriver. 👍😊
