Not much of a carpenter but I have room now!!!

I made a post a while ago about starting renovations to the washer dryer area. We have a decent amount of cabinet space considering but there isn’t a place to store a broom or mop anywhere.

So here’s the work that was done and I finished the shelving today. I took all the drawers out of the factory location and turned it into a broom closet.

I’m thrilled to death with the amount of space we now have. (Brian, taken note) 😁

And yes, I screwed up. When I made the shelving and stained it, I used mahogany instead of cherry mahogany. I may have to strip them down and redo the color.

Nice job!

I like the darker shelves.... mixing wood colors makes it look like you're using two different woods and customizing your rig.

You may be able to tint your lacquer (or varnish) and spray it over the existing color. Nice job.

I was going to look into tinting a clear coat and respray it at work tomorrow. But it's kind of growing on me... we'll see.

Is it possible to put the dryer on the bottom? Better work flow so you won't have to lift wet clothes up.

Weight issue with water and wet clothes in washer? Most stackables and combo's I've seen are dryer on top, washer on bottom.

I believe the problem with that is more weight up high. Also when the washer spins more unbalanced weight is on top. IMHO.

That’s exactly why the washer is suppose to be on the bottom. Besides, let’s face it, how heavy could the wet clothes be? It doesn’t hold a lot 😂😂

Thumbs up

Nice job. I like your configuration better. Not a bad idea to make it that way from the factory. They could even split the area and make it part shelves and part broom closet so you can keep they other pantry drawers. Lots of options with it this way. Good thinking.

I like it as well, just the way it is and am very jealous! Great job. You are certainly correct when you say there is no where for a mop or a broom so I just sort of stow mine in beside the shower stall and the bathroom sink cabinet. Not pretty but it works!

That was my idea... part broom closet, part shelves. But at the end of the day, my wife came up with removing the pantry across the hall so I figured it would be redundant.

Yeah, I hated putting my brooms and mops in the bathroom. Every time I'd want to use the bathroom, I'd have to work around everything in there.

"Not much of a carpenter" my foot! Beautiful job! I actually like the darker shelves, so maybe try to give it a little time. I'll bet you can come to like it.
