Odd black 'splash marks' on bedroom ceiling

Hi all,
Yesterday while I was retrofitting our pantry solution (I'll post those pics on my original thread) I noticed spots on the back ceiling. When I rubbed them, they smudged and made my finger tip black but didn't come all the way off. They wiped off very easily with a Clorox wipe (probably not good for vinyl, but it's what I had on hand). I have no idea what they were from. They extended across the entire width of the bedroom, and about a third of the way across the ceiling.

When the top of the slides get dusty, and then it rains and water gets in there, it makes mud. When the slide comes back in, the rubber slide seal will "flip" from the out direction to the IN direction. It can flip that dirty water on the ceiling. A clorox wipe normally doesn't have any bleach and that is perfectly fine for the ceiling.

I don’t know where this is in relation to the slide. If it’s close to where the slide is when closed it could be dirty water spray off the top of the slide when retracting if the wind was blowing.

As mentioned, it's common place with a slide. I would refrain from using a Clorox wipe on the vinyl, though. Instead we use a dampened Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to gently wipe the ceiling down. The stuff comes right off.

You beat me by 1 second. I’m pretty sure you somehow cheated!

We get that at times in living room slide as well as bed room. No biggy, we just wipe it off with DEP vinyl cleaner, (Lowe's) on a bar cloth. Its from dirty slide seals when you come in wet.

We've been wondering what those marks are. Thanks for the explanation. Will get right on it with the Mr Clean eraser!

When I was first in the US Army, at Basic Training, one class was about the amount of knowledge and expertise in the 40 or so guys in a single platoon of solders. We were all astounded at what all just 40 guys could do.

Multiply that by a couple thousand and the depth of the knowledge base here is also astounding!

I simply use a wet rag, no soap at all, just water.

Magic eraser will also remove all the stains out of our Corian sinks. I think the factory now has gone back to stainless steel.
