Synthetic makes sense in in all applications, transmissions, differentials, and engines.

Been running synthetic oil in all my engine, truck to lawnmower, since my racing days in the 1960s. Changing every 25k miles w/o oil analysis or until contaminated with oil analysis. I use oil analysis when changes are in gallons of oil, just not worth it for only 5 quarts of oil. I have never had a oil related failure or repair to an engine or turbo. I keep most vehicles for 20+ years and up to 500k miles.

Where he costs are, are in fuel, fuel delivery systems, burnt valves and blown head gaskets. Fix that and my total cost of ownership would go way down.

I think the symbol you're referring to is an instruction to lube the gasket.

I've seen racoons knock those things off of 18 wheelers before. Better hope you are in walking distance of a part store or a Walmart, or got a buddy nearby to give you a ride if Murphy pays you a visit.

Check this drain plug out. Would seem to be safer than the Fumoto when it comes to taking a hit. The oil only drains when the hose is connected.
