Please HELP broken door piston

Hello all, I have been loving our DX3 but I accidentally stepped on the side door piston when unloading yesterday. I broke one end off and don't know how to repair/ replace it. Thanks so much in advance

Look at the part number on the piston. You can have a whole replacement with one day shipping off of Amazon. Or, I think someone had a source for just the ends as well.

From the link looks like 25-65 pound rating on the piston or end?

That looks like a design just calling for accidents to happen.

They have switched to a new door manufacturer, so it has changed. I have had that piston on two Dynamax’s and no accidents.

Yea, totally my fault. I was wiped out after racing a 9 hour and 7 hour (and we won I then drove the DX3 back 12 hours. I had my hands full of bags etc. and stepped on the piston.

The old style used to be at the top...that was harder to get to and often times, if the strut was too strong it would hold the door open at the top, water would leak in.

So many door mfg's started relocating them to the bottom where they also have more meat to bite into.

I always thought they were just like all gas struts. There is a small spring clip, use a flat head screw driver to life that, then pull it off the knob.

It looks like the spring clip is sitting in your fingers. Should be that same spring clip on the other end.

Broke ours a few months ago. Very easy to replace.

Use a flat head screw driver to get under the clip on the end. There is a gap to put the blade in there. Just twist and pull the end of the piston up. Will come off easily. Then new one just snaps on.

Like others, we orders and extra and carry it with us.

Take the hood support to your local parts store( NAPA should be the best) they can measure the collapsed and extended lenght, easy fix, sold a lot of em.
