Power Cord Reel - No Power
This morning when I broke camp my power cord reel worked just fine. Drove 320 miles and stopped for the night and went to deploy the power cord and at first it would not even rotate allowing the power cord to come out. It suddenly let go with only a gentle tug. I pulled out too much cord and pressed the power button to reel some back in and got nothing. No power, no clicking, no noise of any kind, just dead.
Assumed it was a fuse, but I cannot find what is supposed to be a 20 amp fuse anywhere. Any suggestions on where that fuse might be would be helpful. Could be a bad motor, but I want to check the simple stuff first. Although, if I can’t find the fuse it ain’t so simple!
Thanks.

I am not sure where the fuse is on your model. But I can tell you, I had bumped the coach disconnect switch a few months ago and that cuts off the power to the cord reel. Just another thing to check.

Thanks, all else seems well, however your comment makes me believe it may be in a fuse box under the hood. Checking that next. At least it’s a lead!

I believe it is one of the fuses near the relays in front electric bay (where your inverter is). When setting ours up I have noticed that it takes a slight push up to release and then it free-wheels out to the power pole. I haven't had it not work on the rewind though, hopefully it's just a fuse.

Checked all 20 amp fuses. All good. And still no power to the power cord reel.

Maybe try 30s too, our macerator spec'd a 30a and it was on a 40a. $.02

I mis-spoke, it was the documentation I received from Brian for macerator that stated 35A fuse and instead it was installed with a 30A breaker. Safer is better IMO, sorry for the bad info.

Texting him directly, he found the fuse and replaced (it was on that block (first 20A on block of 20/5/7.5/10)), now the hose reel gets power but doesn't roll up the cord, he's wondering if it is a chain problem now.

Try pressing the "release" on the toggle switch and then "retract"
The clutch inside might be in between latching.
I think the reel is a Southwire unit. Here is their support number
For technical assistance, please call 1-800-780-4324 x 20311

FYI...just learned this, Southwire does not replace the reels under warranty, they send a repair kit. They denied a warranty claim recently by a dealer that replaced it.

The newer models don’t have a release switch. They auto release once retracted. The unit freewheels just fine.

Hey Brian, any chance for identification of fuses in the electrical bay in an XL?
20a | 5a | 7.5a | 10a
20a | 30a | 20a | 7.5a
5a | 20a | blnk | blnk
Would be great to know what is where
MoJoe has verified that the top left 20a is his hose reels, both water and electric.
Thanks,
Jim

My bad, it’s the first 20 amp on the second row.

I believe the mapping has been posted on here a few times if you search for "fuse map".
It might be quicker though for me to post.

Just going to throw in a hint here regarding fuses in fuse blocks.
If replacing a fuse or just as a matter of forward thinking, consider replacing with self-indicating fuses. Slightly more expensive but makes troubleshooting so much easier when trying to find a blown fuse.

First thing I changed in 2018, every single fuse was changed in the truck and the coach, so much easier to find an issue.
