Propane Filling Issue. 30 FW

Having a problem trying to fill the propane tank on my 2020 30FW. Went to two different propane places and both times when they try to fill tank it immediately starts blowing back at the connection. It won’t take any propane. The tank is less then half full. This is the first time I tried to have the tank filled. I did have the solenoid switch off.

Anyone else experience this issue?

There have been a few reports of this. The common item is that the fitting is missing the rubber seal.

Go to a propane utility company and have them take a look at it and see if they see anything.

Here's what Propane101 says about it.
Quote:
Propane Fill Valve
Propane tank fill valve
When propane is delivered to a tank, the delivery driver hooks up the hose from the truck to the propane fill valve. The hose end coupling is screwed onto the filler valve and seated firmly against a gasket to prevent gas from escaping during the delivery process. If this gasket is not present in the fill valve, the connection between the hose and tank will not be secure and the delivery driver will not be able to fuel the propane tank. This black gasket is visible around the edge of the filler valve wall.

Looking inside the fitting, you're missing the rubber gasket.

You can see the edges of it in the pic I posted. It's the black ring in the fitting.

When you replace it make sure it’s still there when they finish filling it. They stick to their nozzle sometimes.

And maybe find a different propane dealer with better trained employees.

If this is the first time trying to fill the tank, perhaps It has always been missing since you have owned the rig. Not sure if dealer or Dynamax fills the tank initially, but perhaps it stuck to the fill nozzle at whichever place filled it initially.

We have also been seeing some tanks not properly purged...so moisture can be present which causes all sorts of issues.

Thanks Brian I am hoping the missing gasket is all it is. Also when I was looking underneath the coach at the propane tank I noticed that the solenoid that controls the propane to the coach is hot to the touch. Is this normal?

I’d try a place that fills propane.

Nitrile is the correct material, and you can find them online. Also, most propane companies (not just fill stations) have them in stock because they are lost or fail regularly.

Here's one from Amazon Marshall Excelsior MEW2 Acme Gasket
