Propane shut-off Valve on Isata 5

The electric propane shut-off valve seemed to be very warm, it measures 141 degrees using an infra red thermometer. Is this normal, seems awfully hot and a huge power draw. This is with the motorhome parked and not in use. I would really appreciate any input on this issue as it is very concerning. Thanks!

It does get warm. Any reason not to turn your power off with the battery disconnect, or are you plugged in when stored. You have the propane switch on or off when stored?

Thanks, we are plugged in when stored and will turn the propane off. I found some other threads on this that helped. I didn't like the answer, but I guess it is normal. Don't like the power drain, but I guess there is no way around it and keep all the safety cutoffs in place.

Yeah, flip the toggle switch off and left us know if the temp of the valve changes with the toggle off. I always leave the toggle off except when we are camped and need propane.

That valve is ONLY for remote fill versions as I recall.

Do the new ones coming off the assembly line right now have it?

Have what? a propane valve? They always have.

IF the LP tank is not easily accessible (IE in a compartment on the outside wall) then it needs to get a remote fill and thus needs a remote shut off.) Not all floor plans have a remote fill...but I think all of the 5's might have them now. The 36DS did not, but we have changed that to the 34DS and it does I think.

My 2020 36DS has the remote fill along with the remote shutoff for the valve. As noted above it does get warm when energized.

I was also led to believe that the electric propane shut-off valve (somehow) routed power through the propane detector inside. This was a safety measure that closes the propane valve if the alarm is triggered. Any truth to this?

Some of them are, yes, but most are not nowadays.
