Question about leveling a Class C

Hey everyone - a leveling question here.

I have a dynamax isata 3 which has 4 tires in the back. When using camping levelers, do I need two for each side that needs to be elevated? Or is it acceptable to only use one for a given side, in which case, one tire will be in the air not touching ground?

It puts a lot of load on just one tire. If I have to level the rear I put blocks under both. That said I try to avoid leaving the rear by moving around the site until I can level with the front.

X2 with leveling the front if possible. Lifting only one tire of a dual setup puts all the weight on just one tire not the best way to go

On my Isata 3 I have auto leveling. If I can't move the rig in the site and I still need blocks I use wide-base heavy duty pads and put them under the leveler base, not the tires. I try to never leave tires free rotating.

Just be sure you don't ever have back wheels up in the air as that is your brakes on the vehicle to keep vehicle from rolling. I have a class C and it seems the leveling always raises the front wheels off the ground so I use the plastic blocks and patio pavers (cut down to a better size). Lippert notes never have wheels off the ground.

Agree. NEVER BACK WHEELS OFF THE GROUND!

I have a leveling question as well on my recently purchased '17 Isata 3 24FW.

I have the optional 4 point auto leveling system that was installed from the factory. I was surprised to see that the rear jacks are so close together (pic attached) and thought I had remembered the newer models that I saw at a couple of shows we went to had them further apart.

Are the rear jack for all years this close together or at some point did the factory start installing the rear jacks further apart. Just curious more than anything.

I just went out and looked at mine. The rears are 42" apart center to center. Pretty much the same as the front. Also, they are farther back, maybe an inch or so behind the center of the spare tire.

Thanks for checking chroniekon...

Anyone have any insight as to why 2 different 2017 24FW's would have the rear jacks mounted in drastically different locations? Sure wish mine were further apart for greater stability when jacks are down.

I know dynamax makes upgrades on an ongoing basis. They don't wait for the beginning of the next model year to make changes. That said, my 2017 was built in the last couple weeks of the 2017 model year and has all but 1 or 2 features that the 2018's have. I suspect your 2017 was built fairly early in production run.
If you like, I can get some photos of the way mine are mounted in the chance that your's could be moved back.

The jack manufacturer changed the design of their mounting brackets. The Sprinter frame, comes back parallel, and then flairs out behind the wheels. They were able to redesign to mount them at the flair. Equalizer upgrade, not ours.

Following up on something you guys mentioned - "never back wheels in the air". do you mean elevated on blocks? Or truly in the "air" like I mentioned in my original question? is it bad to have the back end lifted on leveling blocks - even if all 4 tires have contact w/a block?

I think it is perfectly fine to have the tires off the ground while supported by the blocks. In essence no difference than if the tires are on the ground as everything is supported. Have done that for years.

As always, Thanks BClemems. Always appreciate your input and have learned so much in the month and a half that I have owned my 24FW.

The white tag in the driver's door says the coach was manufactured in Oct '16 even though the original owner didn't buy it till July of '17. Guess this explains why my coach has the early style mount.

BC, any idea if the newer mount is available from your parts to purchase and if so, what the approx. price would be and would you know if there is excess hydraulic lines wrapped up under the coach. I haven't climbed under the coach to see how much slack is in the lines and probably wouldn't want to take on the project if it means getting longer hydraulic lines to accommodate the further back mounting location.

The first two are the passenger side, the third is the drivers side.
